HONOR has announced a new foldable smartphone in China, the Magic Vs2. This handset is actually even lighter than the Magic V2 that preceded it. That being said, the Magic Vs2 is inferior to the Magic V2, but it’s still immensely powerful.

The HONOR Magic Vs2 is official, and it’s even lighter than the Magic V2

The device looks a lot like the Magic V2. You’ll notice thin bezels around both of its displays, and there’s also a display camera hole on both of them. Three vertically aligned cameras sit on the back. They’re all a part of the same camera island, and look similar to what the Magic V2 offers.

This phone is technically a successor to the Magic Vs, which launched in November last year. It comes with the Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 SoC, while the Magic V2 includes the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 processor.

I don’t usually talk about the measurements so early in announcement articles, but in this one, it makes sense. The Magic Vs2 measures 157.5 x 146.2 x 5.1mm when unfolded. When folded, it measures 157.5 x 74.4 x 10.7mm. It weighs 229 grams.

The Magic V2 is still thinner, though

So, it’s not as thin as the Magic V2 when folded (9.9mm), but it’s lighter, as the Magic V2 weighs 231 or 237 grams, depending on the model. They’re very similar in every other way, though, design-wise.

A side-facing fingerprint scanner is included on the phone, 12GB and 16GB RAM models were announced. Those two variants come with 256GB and 512GB of internal storage.

Both of its displays have a high PWM dimming

A 7.92-inch main display has a 2344 x 2156 resolution, and it’s an OLED panel. This is an LTPO display with a 120Hz refresh rate, and 3,840Hz PWM dimming. HDR10+ is supported, and it has a maximum brightness of 1,600 nits.

The external display measures 6.43 inches, and we’re looking at a fullHD+ (2376 x 1060) panel here. It’s an OLED display too, and also an LTPO panel with a 120Hz refresh rate. A 3,840Hz PWM dimming is included here too. This panel goes up to 2,500 nits of peak brightness.

A 50-megapixel main camera (f/1.9 aperture) sits on the back, along with a 12-megapixel ultrawide camera (f/2.2 aperture, macro option). The third camera on the back is a 20-megapixel telephoto unit (2.5x optical zoom, f/2.4 aperture). On the front, you’ll find a 16-megapixel unit (f/2.2 aperture) on both displays.

66W charging is included

A 5,000mAh battery sits on the inside, and supports 66W wired charging. Android 13 comes pre-installed, with Magic UI 7.2. Bluetooth 5.2 is included here, while there are two SIM card slots you can use. Stereo speakers are also included, of course, as is an infrared sensor.

The device comes in Coral Purple (plain leather), Glacier Blue (feather fiber), and Velvet Black (feather fiber) color options. The phone is already available to pre-order in China. It remains to be seen if it will launch globally, its predecessor did.
