After the initial leaked render not long ago, HMD’s first smartphone was spotted online by the Finnish publication Suomimobiili. The image gives us a glimpse at the device and also confirms key details. For those unaware, HMD owned the Nokia brand for its smartphones since 2016. Rumors have been floating around since last year about HMD’s foray into the smartphone industry.

HMD’s first smartphone appears online

Suomimobiili reports that HMD Global posted an image of a mysterious device on the Nokia website. However, the page has since been taken down. The leaked image looks like a promotional render of the product. It shows a woman sitting on a smartphone which is in Cyan color.

There is an HMD branding on the back panel and a rectangular module in Black. The latter has two camera sensors placed inside circular rings that are also accentuated by Cyan. There is also a third unit but it’s unclear if the device will feature a dual or triple camera setup. The module also has 108MP OIS text confirming the resolution of the primary camera and OIS support on the HMD phone. We could also spot the volume rocker buttons on the right edge of the device.

The latest development is in line with the previously leaked render of the HMD smartphone. While the back panel design is the same, the front will have a centre-aligned punch-hole display.

Six HMD phones are reportedly in the pipeline

Last week it was reported that HMD was working on launching six phones. These are codenamed Pulse, Pulse+, Pulse Pro, Legend, Legend+, and Legend Pro. An early information page on Nokia’s website revealed HMD’s goal of making phones worth committing to. This means phones that are durable, fun, secure, fast, and affordable.

The exact launch timeline of HMD’s first smartphone remains unclear at the moment. MWC is taking place at the end of February, hence we can expect the brand to share details around the same time.
