The Google Pixel 8 Pro was announced last week, and it’s now available to buy at many retailers including Best Buy. But one thing that wasn’t answered yet was, how well does this stand up to some torture? Well, thankfully Zack from JerryRigEverything is here to do a durability test on the new Google Pixel 8 Pro.
This durability test shows us how well the Pixel 8 Pro can stand up to all sorts of things, including being bent. Google hasn’t always been the best in the bend test, but with the Pixel 8 Pro it did pass. Nothing really happened when he tried to bend it, other than some creeks from an old wooden chair. That’s quite good for Google, and it did fair a lot better than the iPhone 15 Pro Max did, thankfully.
Why these durability tests matter
Many wonder why these durability tests are even a thing. Since you’re unlikely to bend your phone, or light it on fire, or really anything like that. But the thing is, we never really know what might happen to our phones here. We could end up sitting on them, or drop them near an open flame. So it’s good to see whether or not these phones can stand up to that torture test.
And with Google promising to update the Pixel 8 series for the next 7 years – until 2030. Many are likely going to be keeping their phones for quite some time. So doing a durability test like this on a phone that will still be updated in seven years is a pretty big deal.
You can check out the full torture test, and see how well the Google Pixel 8 Pro did, in the video below. It did actually perform quite well, especially in the bend test. With almost no movement at all. Which is pretty rare for a Google phone.
