The Apple iPhone 15 Pro Max is tipped to have a slightly different camera layout. As many of you know, Apple will be adding a periscope camera to the phone, which allegedly won’t be a part of the iPhone 15 Pro.
The iPhone 15 Pro Max to have a slightly different camera layout due to the periscope camera addition
So, in order to fit everything in nice and tiny, Apple will change things up. Periscope lenses take up more horizontal space, which is why Apple needs to make some changes under the hood, based on URedditor’s info.
He says that the ultrawide and telephoto cameras will change positions, so that Apple can fit everything in. The camera between the flash and the LiDAR sensor will be the one with a periscope lens.
Vadim Yuryev, a YouTuber, explained that the position is being swapped because the periscope lens needs more space, as we’ve mentioned earlier. It can’t exactly go down because that’s where the battery is, and right is also not an option because of the LiDAR scanner… as shown below. It has to be the middle lens.
Apple can’t fit in a periscope camera inside the iPhone 15 Pro
Space inside is seemingly one of the main reasons why the regular iPhone 15 Pro won’t get a periscope lens this time around. The company cannot simply swap camera positions in its case, it would have to do some major redesigning.
What does that mean for you, design-wise? Well, not much. If you plan on getting the iPhone 15 Pro Max, you’ll still get the stovetop layout iPhone users are used to by now. That won’t change, even though we’ll get some changes under the hood.
That periscope lens is actually mainly why the iPhone 16 Pro will likely increase in size a bit. Apple will need space to fit everything on the inside. Both the iPhone 16 Pro and Pro Max are expected to offer periscope cameras.
