Samsung‘s Galaxy S23 phones are in high demand around the world. The company has revealed that sales have grown substantially compared to the Galaxy S22 series last year. The phones are now available in 130 countries, with availability expanding to a few more markets later this month. The Galaxy S23 lineup debuted in Japan earlier today and will go on sale on April 20.
Samsung launched the Galaxy S23 series on February 1, with pre-orders beginning in most markets on the same day. General sales began on February 17, except for Latin America where sales opened a week later. By early April, the Galaxy S23 sales in the region were up about 1.7 times as compared to the 2022 models. Likewise, the Korean brand has shipped 1.5 times more units of its latest flagships in Europe than that of the Galaxy S22 phones over the same period last year.
The sales volume of the Galaxy S23 series has also grown 1.5 times in the Middle East and 1.4 times in India as compared to the Galaxy S22 in the first two months after launch, Yonhap News reports. In Samsung’s homeland South Korea, where the new Galaxy flagships received record-breaking pre-orders, the company has already sold over one million units. The sale pace is reportedly similar to last year, but the early demand shows the popularity of the new phones.
Model-wise, the Galaxy S23 Ultra comprises the majority of sales globally. According to the Korean media, the biggest and most expensive model accounts for about 60 percent of all Galaxy S23 sales. Its 200MP camera, 10X optical zoom capability, 100X Space Zoom, and S Pen compatibility make the device a crowd favorite. The Galaxy S23 and Galaxy S23+ each account for about 20 percent of total sales.

Samsung was already expecting this sky-high demand for the Galaxy S23 phones. Shortly after the launch event on February 1, the company’s head of mobile business TM Roh said that is aiming for a double-digit sales growth of its latest flagships over the Galaxy S22. The Korean behemoth is looking to ship more than 26 million units of the Galaxy S23 trio this year, with the sales volume potentially reaching 30 million. It appears to be on track to achieving that ambitious goal. But we will have to wait a few more months and see the long-term sales data before it can be said for certain.
