Samsung recently released the March 2024 security update for the Galaxy S24 series. The update is widely available in the US, Canada, and Europe. However, the latest security patch is not yet available for any other device. In the meantime, the company is pushing last month’s release to more Galaxy phones and tablets. The Galaxy Tab S8 series, Galaxy A42 5G, Galaxy A23 5G, and a few other devices recently received the February security update.

February update rolling out to the Galaxy Tab S8 and others

The Galaxy Tab S8, Galaxy Tab S8+, and Galaxy Tab S8 Ultra are currently picking up the February security update in Asia, SamMobile reports. The update is rolling out widely for 5G and Wi-Fi versions with the firmware build number ending in CXB5. A global rollout should follow soon. Last month’s SMR (Security Maintenance Release) patches more than 60 Android OS and Galaxy vulnerabilities, including a few critical ones.

The February update for the Galaxy A23 is currently limited to Verizon units in the US. The device is receiving the new security patch with the build number A236VSQS3CXB2. The Galaxy A42 5G is also initially getting the update in the US with firmware version A426USQS8EXB2. The update for both devices should go global soon. That said, these devices don’t get monthly security updates, so Samsung could skip the February SMR in some regions.

The same applies to the likes of the Galaxy F54 5G, Galaxy M14 5G, and Galaxy A13. All of these phones are receiving last month’s security patches in various countries. The updated build numbers for the trio are E546BXXS4BXB1, M146BXXS3BXB1, and A135FXXS6DXB1, respectively. Samsung may or may not expand the rollout globally for these devices. You should get a notification once the update hits your Galaxy phone.

Alternatively, you can navigate to Settings > Software update > Download and install to check for updates manually. Since updates are rolled out in batches, it may take a while before all eligible units in a region receive the latest release. If you don’t see any updates today, you can repeat the steps to check again later. Make sure that you have sufficient battery charge before installing an update.

The March 2024 SMR is on the way for Galaxy devices

Samsung will soon open the floodgates for the March 2024 SMR. The likes of the Galaxy S23 series and the latest foldables should pick up the latest security patch in the next few days, with others following closely. As usual, we will keep you posted on the rollouts. There are rumors that the March update will bring Galaxy S24‘s AI features to the Galaxy S23 trio. These AI features will also roll out to other devices in the coming months.
