Qualcomm announced its new flagship SoC yesterday, the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3. A lot has been said during the event, and even some Xiaomi 14 details were confirmed. Amongst all that, it was confirmed that the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 will fuel the Xiaomi 14 series, the OnePlus 12, and several other devices.

To be more accurate, the Realme GT5 Pro was also mentioned, and the same goes for iQOO 12. It was confirmed either by Qualcomm itself, or specific companies yesterday. On top of that, various companies were mentioned too, as all of them will take advantage of this processor moving forward.

Those companies are ASUS, HONOR, iQOO, Meizu, NIO, Nubia, OnePlus, OPPO, Realme, Redmi, RedMagic, Sony, Vivo, Xiaomi, and ZTE. More of them will utilize it, of course, such as Samsung, Motorola, etc, but they were not specifically mentioned.

The Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 has a lot to offer. This chip actually offers considerable improvements over its predecessor, which is already an outstanding processor. The Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 is made using a 4nm fabrication process, by TSMC.

This chip is 30% more powerful than its predecessor, and offers better power efficiency

It is said to be 30% more powerful than its predecessor, and offer a 20% gain in power efficiency. Its GPU is 25% more powerful, 25% more efficient, and it also offers 40% better Ray Tracking.

The new Qualcomm Hexagon NPU is 98% faster, and 40% more efficient. This chip also has an 8K external display support, and Unreal Engine 5 support with Lumen lightning system.

The Xiaomi 14 and Xiaomi 14 Pro will become the very first smartphones to include this chip. Well, at least it will be the first announced one, as it’s coming tomorrow, October 26.
