Qualcomm announced the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 quite recently, and we’re already getting information regarding its successor. A reliable source has just shared some info regarding the Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 SoC.

The Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 info shared early, by a trusted source

The source in question is Digital Chat Station, a well-known Chinese tipster. He actually went to Weibo to share this information. The tipster says that the Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 is codenamed ‘SUN’.

He also said that the chip adopts a 2+6 structure, and that it will be manufactured using TSMC’s 3nm process. As a reminder, the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 is made using TSMC’s 4nm process.

The company’s Oryon architecture is allegedly “significantly improved”

Furthermore, the tipster also said that the design and performance of Qualcomm’s Oryon architecture has “significantly improved”. So, based on this information, the Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 sure seems promising.

We didn’t really get a chance to test out the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 properly just yet. Smartphones featuring that chip are reaching the market, but we’re only at the very start of the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 adventure in the market.

Qualcomm made considerable promises with the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3

Qualcomm made some serious promises regarding the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3. The company stated various improvements, including its performance. The chip does seem to be getting hotter than its predecessor, though, and it seems to be less efficient.

It remains to be seen if that will be an issue or not, but chances are it’ll be just fine. The Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 is not expected to arrive anytime soon, of course. That chip will likely launch in Q4 next year, so we’re in for quite a wait until that happens.

These are only the initial details regarding the Snapdragon 8 Gen 4. We’ll see plenty more rumors before the chip actually gets announced. Considering Digital Chat Station’s track record, though, this info is likely accurate.
