There are plenty of ways for music artists to make an income, and one of them doesn’t involve making music. Selling merchandise is a lucrative source of income for many artists. Well, Spotify just introduced a new hub that will make selling merch even easier.

Spotify has been supporting artists while trying to sell their merch for a few years. Back in 2021, the company partnered with Shopify to link creators’ profile pages with their Shopify profiles. When you go to an artist’s profile page, you’ll be able to browse the merchandise that they have available. If you find something that you like, then you’ll be redirected to their Shopify page.

Now, Spotify has a new hub for artists to sell their merch

On Monday, Spotify announced this new hub in the app that will help you discover merch from your favorite artists. Rather than going to a specific artist’s page to find merch, this is a unified location with merch recommendations based on your listening habits. Just like music, the items are curated to you based on the algorithm.

Browsing the hub could let you discover merch from your favorite artists that you didn’t know they had. Also, it could introduce you to new artists. So, you never know what you’ll stumble upon.

Spotify might still be tightly integrated with Shopify. When you’re ready to make a purchase, you’ll be taken to the Spotify store powered by Shopify.

When it comes to accessing the hub, it’s not quite as straightforward. as you’d think You’d expect there to be a tab on the home screen. However, there doesn’t seem to be anything really pointing you to the hub. If you want to be able to access the hub, then you’ll have to search for the word “Merch” in the search bar. That’s a little weird. Hopefully, the company will put in an actual button for it.
