The Mobile World Congress, MWC, is finally happening, and companies are showcasing some of their best technological breakthroughs and potential products. Also, we’re seeing a few familiar faces. In the case of TCL, the company just gave us a look at its latest TCL 50 series phones at MWC. It previously announced these devices at CES earlier this year, but it’s providing more information on these devices.
TCL unveils its 50 Series phones during MWC
This year, TCL is releasing a whopping seven phones! Many of them are your typical mid-range handsets, but some of them actually stand out. However, let’s start off with the more basic devices.
TCL 50 LE ($99)
This is the entry-level phone. It comes with a 6.6-inch 720p+ display that has a 90Hz refresh rate. As for the internals, it has 4 GB of RAM that’s backed up by 64GB of storage. Rounding out the specs, it has a 4,000mAh battery.
TCL 50 5G (€149)
This device comes with a 6.6-inch display with a 720p+ resolution and a 90Hz refresh rate. As for the internals, this phone uses a MediaTek MT6835 SoC, and it comes with 4GB/6GB of RAM and 128GB/256GB of storage. Rounding out the specs, we have a 50MP camera accompanied by a 5MP ultrawide camera and a 5010mAh battery.
This device is meant to be a simple phone to get the job done. It’s not meant to give you the most powerful experience, but it provides you with a solid user experience with a nice display at a low price.
TCL XE 5G ($149)
Next up, we have the TCL XE 5G. It has a smaller 6.6-inch inch display with a 720p+ resolution. It uses a MediaTek Dimensity 6100 SoC with 4GB of RAM and 128GB of storage. For the camera, it has a 50MP main camera accompanied by a 5MP Ultra-wide camera, and it comes with a 5010 mAh battery.
This one is for people who want a little bit more power, and it don’t mind sacrificing screen resolution.
TCL 50 SE (€149)
This phone has a large 6.78-inch display, and it has a sharper 1080p+ resolution. It’s using The MediaTek Helio G88 SoC, and it comes with 4GB of RAM (expandable to 8GB with storage) with 128GB of storage. It’s rocking a 50MP main camera, and it comes with the same 5010mAh battery as the others.
The phone comes with Android 14, and it will get the update to Android 15. It’s unfortunate to see it only getting one update. In any case, this phone is meant to give you a slightly more powerful experience with a sharper display. The display uses NXTVISION technology. This makes the colors and contrast pop when you’re watching videos or playing games.
TCL XL 5G ($169)
One of the more robust devices on this list it’s a TCL XL 5G. This one has a large 6.78-inch display with a 1080p+ resolution and a smooth 120Hz refresh rate. It comes with 128GB of storage and an octa-core processor. The TCL XL 5G comes with a 50MP main camera, and it has a large 5,010mAh battery.
This phone is for people who want a more powerful phone with a more robust viewing experience as well.
TCL 50 XE NXTPAPER 5G ($199)
This is one of the phones that stand out. TCL is known for having its NXTPAPER display technology. It makes the display extremely similar to paper. It eliminates harmful blue light by 61%, making for a more comfortable viewing experience. Also, it has anti-glare technology that makes it much easier to view in bright daylight.
This phone comes with a 6.6-in 720p+ display that runs at 90Hz. As for the processor, it phone uses the MediaTek MT6835 23E + SoC. It has 4GB/8GB of RAM (this phone uses RAM expansion through storage, so, with the expansion, we’re looking at 12GB/16GB of RAM), and 128GB/256GB of storage. Rounding out the specs, this phone has a 50MP main camera and a 5010mAh battery.
TCL 50 XL NXTPAPER 5G ($299)
Rounding out the list, we have the most advanced of the NXTPAPER phones. This phone has a large 6.7-inch NXTPAPER display with a 1080p+ resolution and a 120Hz refresh rate. This phone has 6GB of RAM with 128GB of storage. Just like the other phones, it has a 50MP camera and a 5010mAh battery.
All of these phones are going to hit the market during Q2 2024 with the exception of the NXTPAPER phones. These phones will hit the market during Q3 2024.
