This might be your first real look at the upcoming flagship noise-cancelling headphones from Bose, the QuietComfort Ultra, thanks to a partnership leak from Onleaks and MySmartPrice (via Android Police).

The QuietComfort Ultra should be the replacement for the Bose Noise-Cancelling Headphones 700 according to the leak. Which would probably put them in the price range of $379. However it’s worth mentioning that there is no confirmed information about the price of the headphones yet. Bose also hasn’t announced these officially yet. But going off of the price of the Bose Noise-Cancelling 700, which are $379, it seems like a reasonable assumption for the cost. As Bose generally hasn’t changed pricing too much on headphones when it releases a new pair. The QuietComfort 35 II for example were around $349 when they initially launched back in 2017.

The QuietComfort 45, their replacement, launched at the same price. Although they have been discounted to $329 before and you can currently find them for around $279. Again though, this doesn’t mean Bose will price the QuietComfort Ultra the same as the Noise-Cancelling 700. The leak for example mentions pricing around €499.95 in France. Which might mean a higher price tag of $499 in the US. That would also put them well above the price range of Sony’s XM5 headphones. Which are typically their competitor. This is all speculative of course.

Based on the image renders, the QuietComfort Ultra will look pretty similar to the QuietComfort 45 and QuietComfort 35 II. An interesting choice if these are to be a follow-up for the Bose Noise-Cancelling 700.

The leak shows off the design of the new headphones, but it also includes images of the earbuds. So it looks like Bose is finally ready to replace both products. According to the leaked images for both products, Bose will offer two colors for each. The standard black and then a lighter beige color.

Bose doesn’t have a launch date for these yet nor is there any indication of availability. But expect both to be available globally as most or all of Bose’s flagship stuff is. Just like with the headphones Bose’s upcoming true wireless earbuds will come in black and what appears to be a beige color option. With match charging cases.

Google’s bringing the Link Your Devices feature to Android

Android is pretty integrated, but it could still use some improvements. Thanks to a new report from 9To5Google, it looks like Google is looking to bring those improvements. As spotted by @Nail_Sadykov on Twitter, Android is preparing to bring a new Link Your Devices menu. This will be a hub showing different ways that you can share functionality between devices.

This is buried in the code at the moment, so you can’t access it. Right now, the menu only shows one thing that you’ll be able to do. The Call Switching feature will allow you to seamlessly switch ongoing calls between different devices. This is a neat feature to have, and we’ve seen it implemented by other companies before.

Other than that, we don’t know about any other features that the company is going to bring. Mishaal Rahman noted that Google could come out with an Internet Sharing feature, but we don’t see that functionality in the screenshot.

Only time will tell what Google has planned for this feature. Also, we’re not sure when the company is going to launch this hub. Since there was only one feature visible, we don’t know if the company is still working on more features to populate the menu. Android 14 is soon to hit the stable channel, this might be an included feature.

The phishing email typically mimics a password reset request, a familiar scenario that prompts users to take action. While some users might be cautious and recognize the email as suspicious due to sender address discrepancies, the attackers cunningly employ AWS S3 Bucket URLs to redirect victims to seemingly legitimate login pages.

Upon clicking the link, victims are led to a webpage that bears the hallmarks of a Microsoft login page, complete with pre-populated email addresses and password fields. While this technique requires a slightly more advanced skill set from the attackers, it remains accessible enough for the average cybercriminal to execute.

The Galaxy Tab S9 FE might not be an affordable tablet

For the first time in the short history of Samsung‘s Fan Edition (FE) series, the company is preparing to launch two FE-branded tablets together this year. We are expecting the Galaxy Tab S9 FE and Galaxy Tab S9 FE+ to go official soon. They are supposed to bring flagship-grade specs at an affordable point. However, the leaked prices of the tablets are anything but affordable.

A few days back, reputed tipster Roland Quandt claimed that Samsung will price the 6GB+128GB variant of the Galaxy Tab S9 FE (Wi-Fi) at ₹63,000 in India. That’s the equivalent of $760 at the current exchange rate. And it’s a quite high price for an FE-series tablet. For comparison, the 128GB variant of the flagship Galaxy Tab S9 costs ₹73,000 (roughly $880) in the country.

This made us wonder whether the rumored entry price of the Galaxy Tab S9 FE was correct. Unfortunately, that appears to be the case. Sources have quoted the same price for the tablet to MySmartPrice as well. The publication has also got the pricing structure of the 5G version. The same tablet with 5G connectivity will reportedly cost ₹65,000 (roughly $785) in India.

At these prices, the Galaxy Tab S9 FE will be quite expensive. The flagship series looks like a better deal. That’s unless the quoted prices are the MRPs (maximum retail prices). The 128GB Galaxy Tab S9 (Wi-Fi) has an MRP of ₹82,000 but Samsung is selling it for ₹73,000. But if the reported prices for the Galaxy Tab S9 FE+ are the final selling prices, the Korean firm might find it tough to move the tablet off its store shelves.

The Galaxy Tab S9 FE will be available in an 8GB RAM version as well

If rumors are anything to go by, Samsung will offer the Galaxy Tab S9 FE in multiple memory configurations. Along with the aforementioned base variant (6GB+128GB), the tablet will also be available with 8GB of RAM and 256GB of storage, Quandt has confirmed. Its pricing structure is not known.

The Galaxy Tab S9 FE+, on the other hand, is said to come in 8GB+128GB and 12GB+256GB memory configurations. The pricing structure of the Plus model is also missing. Silver, Light Green and Grey are among the rumored color options for the tablets. We should get to know more about the duo in the coming weeks as Samsung gears up for the launch. The company also has the Galaxy S23 FE in the works.

Needless to say, this is all a part of Elon Musk’ vision for X. The company’s owner wants X to come an “everything app”, as he’s inspired by WeChat. That’s something he spoke of several times thus far.

Many platforms out there offer video calling, so X will have plenty of competition. It does have a ton of users as it is, and some of them may find it more convenient to conduct video calls directly from X, though. That’s what Elon Musk is counting on.

Job listings, and banking & payment features could be on the way too

What else is expected to arrive to X in the near future? Well, there’s been talk about job listings, and also banking and payment features. Linda Yaccarino did talk about payments during an interview, which suggests we can expect that to arrive too.

Twitter is definitely changing. Elon Musk has an entirely different vision for the app, as it wants it to do a lot of things. That is probably why he decided to rebrand it altogether, to get people to think of it differently.

Needless to say, that was a risky move, as Twitter is a name people know and love. On the flip side, he did pay $44 billion for Twitter, which was a huge risk on its own, so… there you go.

YouTube, like any service that curates content for you, is heavy on delivering personalized content for you. This is how it keeps people on the platform. In order for the platform to do this, it needs to have access to your watch history. Well, if you disable your watch history, your YouTube home feed will look desolate.

Disabling your watch history can have its benefits. If a friend or child uses your account, and they have very different tastes, you can turn off your watch history temporarily. You don’t want their videos to throw off your recommendations.

Also, if you know that you’re going to search up a bunch of different videos that are off the beaten path for your recommendations, you can disable it. Say, if you have to do research for something specific or your friend recommends videos you know you’re not going to like.

Well, if you disable your YouTube watch history, your home feed will look different

Well, calling it a home screen is rather generous, as you won’t have a feed. YouTube announced this (via Android Central), and it will be rolling out gradually over the coming months. If you disable your watch history, your home screen will be stripped of all video. You won’t see results based on your previous video nor will you see a feed of the most popular videos.

Instead, all you’ll see is the search bar up top and the navigation panel on the left of the screen. You’ll still have access to everything in the side panel, however. So, you’ll still be able to browse the channels you’re subscribed to, check out your library, and go through the trending videos.

YouTube says that this is to streamline the experience for people who want to prefer to search for videos rather than look at recommendations. If you turned off your history on YouTube, don’t be surprised if you open YouTube to a blank screen.

Google security researchers detail critical 2G bug in Pixel 6

Google patched two critical vulnerabilities in the Pixel 6 that allowed remote attackers to take control of the device simply by making a call to the victim. The bug was present in the modem stack and enabled attackers to downgrade a potential victim’s wireless cellular communication to the 2G standard and hijack the device. The company advises users to disable 2G on their phones to stay safe from such attacks in the future.

The vulnerabilities were detailed by Google’s Android Red Team during the Black Hat security conference in Las Vegas earlier this week. According to a SCMedia report, attackers chained the two Pixel modem vulnerabilities together to first downgrade the target device’s cellular communication standard and then hijack it. The whole attack could be executed “with the help of a low-cost $1,000 home-brew cellphone base station,” the report states.

The Android Red Team discovered the vulnerabilities in 2021. Tracked as CVE-2022-20170, the first bug is an over-the-air remote code execution bug patched with the June 2022 security update for Pixel devices. The second issue, tracked as CVE-2022-20405, is an elevation of privilege (EoP) flaw. Google patched it a couple of months later (in August 2022). Interestingly, the company originally classified the EoP flaw as a moderate vulnerability. However, both were later rated critical with a CVSS (Common Vulnerability Scoring System) score of 9.8.

Google confirmed that there’s no evidence of attackers exploiting these bugs in the wild today, or even in the past. However, it still took the company over a year to disclose the vulnerabilities and the related technical CVE (Common Vulnerabilities and Exposures) details due to “internal Alphabet procedures.” This also gave Pixel 6 users ample time to install the patches.

The Google Android Red Team advises Pixel users against using 2G

Four Android Red Team members demonstrated this attack at the recently concluded Black Hat security conference. The security experts (Xuan Xing, Eugene Rodionov, Xiling Gong, and Farzan Karimi) highlighted the weaknesses of 2G networks. “This attack is all about downgrading handsets to 2G,” Karimi said.

Unfortunately, despite the arrival of 5G networks, the wireless industry hasn’t left behind 2G. Most cellular data modem chipsets still support 2G networks. This is to ensure connectivity in areas where 5G isn’t available. However, the poor security measures of the 2G wireless standard make it vulnerable to these kinds of attacks.

Google’s security researchers advise users to disable 2G connectivity on their phones. You should be able to do that from the Settings app. Should you ever need to connect to a 2G network (such as when 5G isn’t available), you can enable it. Note that 2G is always enabled for emergency calls regardless of your setting.
