First and foremost, do note that this is not a leak or anything of the sort, at least it seems that way. This seems to be a render created for presentational purposes, and you can check it out below.

As you can see, the phone has uniform bezels, a curved display, and a centered display camera hole at the top. Needless to say, it does look rather nice from the front, as most uniform devices do.

Its physical keys are placed on the right-hand side, with the power/lock button placed below the volume up and down keys. The phone’s corners are rounded, as are its display corners, actually.

Ice Universe likely has information about the device itself, so it decided to show us what it’ll look like. He seems to be convinced that the phone won’t have a “chin”, hence the uniform bezels here.

The Xiaomi 13 series arrived in mid-December last year, to China. The global variants arrived later on, which will likely be the case with the Xiaomi 14 series too. Xiaomi usually announces its flagships in China first.

The Xiaomi 14 Pro specs also surfaced, actually, a couple of days ago. That info came from Digital Chat Station, and the specs do look promising. The tipster said that the Xiaomi 14 Pro will offer the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 SoC, along with a 5,000mAh battery.

It will support 120W wired charging, along with 50W wireless charging. That is basically all the info that he shared, but we’ll likely get more detailed spec sheets in the near future.

Xiaomi is once again expected to announce vanilla and ‘Pro’ models, at the very least. The ‘Ultra’ handset was also launched for the Xiaomi 13 series, but it arrived later on, during a separate launch.

Critical Google Cloud’s SQL Service Flaw Exposes Sensitive Data

Google recently fixed a critical Cloud SQL database service flaw that could have been exploited to access sensitive data and breach other cloud services.

On May 25th, Dig Security researchers uncovered this security gap in the CloudSQL service of GCP, enabling unauthorized access to various database engines like:- 

  • MySQL
  • PostgreSQL
  • SQL Server

Dig Security’s Ofrir Balassiano and Ofrir Shaty disclosed that:- 

“Exploiting the vulnerability granted them the ability to elevate privileges and assign a user to the highly privileged DbRootRole role in GCP.”

Leveraging a critical misconfiguration in the roles-permissions architecture, they escalated their privileges.

They obtained a system administrator role, granting them complete control over the SQL Server and enabling access to the underlying operating system.

The researchers affirmed that they gained the ability to retrieve sensitive files, view privileged paths, extract passwords, and access secrets from the host operating system.

They also highlighted the potential for further escalation to other environments through the underlying service agents.

While apart from this, Dig Security discovered the flaw in Google’s Cloud SQL database service in February and notified Google. 

After they had been notified, Google promptly fixed the issue in April and rewarded Dig Security researchers a bug bounty reward under their bug bounty program.

In addition, security analysts also discovered another crucial flaw within the permission structure, allowing them to elevate privileges and grant their users the coveted ‘sysadmin’ role.

Unauthorized access to internal data such as secrets, URLs, and passwords poses a significant security risk, as demonstrated by their ability to obtain sensitive information from Google’s docker image repository before the issue was resolved and non-internal IP access was restricted.

This allows you to connect two wireless Razer devices with a single dongle so you don’t need two USB ports. As long as the other device also supports this connection feature. On top of that, it can connect through Bluetooth too.

For battery life, the keyboard lasts for up to 40 hours on a single charge. It also has low-profile keys with Razer’s optical switches, plus a dedicated multi-function roller button and media key. Other excellent features include laser-etched keycaps, and storage for the dongle on the underside of the keyboard. If you’re looking for something wireless, this is the way to go.

While the keyboard doesn’t have as much room for every key like a full size, it still offers most key functions by doubling them up together. This is also a wired keyboard so you aren’t worrying about battery life with this one.

You can pick this one up with either linear or clicky switches depending on if you want something more smooth or crisp and clicky. The Huntsman Mini also features onboard memory for saved profiles as well as the Chroma RGB lighting. And when you’re done using it and need to pack it up, the USB cable is detachable for storage. It also comes in Black or Mercury color options.

Another one of the best keyboards from Razer is the Huntsman V2. You can get this one with clicky and linear switches as well depending on your preferences. And since this is a full size keyboard you get a few more functions out of it. It has four dedicated media keys and a multi-functional dial that you can use to adjust volume and other things. Not to mention the number pad if you like to use it.

The other really nice thing about this keyboard is that Razer is using a sound dampening foam layer to make the key presses quieter. The keys still have that nice mechanical feel to them without making so much noise. Which is actually great if you don’t like the louder key clicks.

You’ll also see that this keyboard comes with a wrist rest, and this one is magnetic so it attaches and detaches pretty easily. If there’s one downside it’s that the keyboard doesn’t have a detachable cable. Which makes a little harder for packing into a bag if you ever wish to take it anywhere.

Razer BlackWidow V3

The Blackwidow Ultimate was my very first nice gaming keyboard purchase more than 10 years ago. And since then the Blackwidow line has continued to improve on what it offers to the gamer. The Blackwidow V3 is not the latest iteration of this line. But it is still an excellent choice.

The dedicated roller dial and multi-functional button are present just like on the Deathstalker V2 Pro. But it also comes with a magnetic wrist rest for more ergonomic support. Again Razer has implemented the ability to store 5 onboard memory profiles which you can configure and save using the Razer Synapse 3 software on your PC. And a nice touch is that the Blackwidow V3 has cable routing so you can clean the desk space up a tiny bit.

Of course it also feature Razer Chroma RGB backlighting but the switches on this keyboard are transparent, which makes the RGB brighter. For a wired keyboard this is definitely one of our favorites. And at $79.99 the price isn’t too bad.

Razer Blackwidow V4 Pro

The Blackwidow V4 Pro takes everything that was great about the V3 model and improves upon it with a couple of key changes. The one that stands out the most is the USB passthrough. There are two USB-C ports on the back and one USB-A port right alongside them. One of the USB-C ports is for powering the keyboard itself, while the other is for powering the USB passthrough function.

It also has this new Command Dial on the left side of the keyboard for managing the controls of different things. You can use it to adjust keyboard brightness, zoom, switch browser tabs and more. Then on the right side there are four sizeable dedicated media keys, as well as a multi-function roller dial.

Now onto the wrist rest. It’s magnetic like the ones that come with the other keyboards on this list. But this one also has a Chroma RGB underglow as does the keyboard itself. If you love your RGB, you’ll get a ton of it with this keyboard. And the lights will look really cool in games that support Chroma and have specific profiles. Additionally you get everything you’d imagine comes with a modern Razer keyboard. Like onboard memory profiles, 8-macro keys and more.

Overall it’s a solid keyboard and if it weren’t for the Deathstalker V2 Pro, this would probably be our favorite coming from Razer.

Blackwidow V4 Pro

The Ornata V3 X had to go on this list simply because there weren’t really any other options so far that were in this price range. If all you want is a simple gaming keyboard that doesn’t have a ton of extra features, this is one of the best options. And because of that it’s only $39.99 which makes it super affordable.

There are of course some trade offs. There’s no wireless capabilities, and the switches are membrane instead of mechanical. If that doesn’t bother you it’s still great for gaming. Though hardcore or competitive gamers will want to go with something else on this list.

The Ornata V3 X also features Chroma RGB, and it still comes with a nice magnetic wrist rest for better ergonomics and more comfortable typing. And like the Deathstalker V2 Pro, it has low-profile keys for a slim design.

The Xiaomi 13 Ultra launched over a month ago in China. The phone managed to get a lot of attention, and prior to its launch, Xiaomi confirmed that it’s coming to global markets. Well, now the global price of the Xiaomi 13 Ultra has been tipped, and it reveals that the phone will be quite expensive.

To put things into perspective, the most affordable Xiaomi 13 Ultra model in China comes with 12GB of RAM and 256GB of storage. The most expensive one includes 16GB of RAM and 1TB of storage. Those two models are priced at CNY5,999 ($850/€792) and CNY7,299 ($1,034/€963, respectively.

Well, now, Ishan Agarwal, a well-known tipster, has revealed the phone’s price in the EU. He says that the 12GB RAM variant with 512GB of storage will cost €1,499 (CNY11,356). Needless to say, this is very high.

This 12GB RAM + 512GB storage model will be almost €500 more expensive than a variant with more RAM and storage in China. We did expect a higher price tag in Europe, but not by this much.

This is quite a high price tag, even for top-of-the-line flagships in Europe

Having said that, the Xiaomi 13 Ultra is the most powerful smartphone Xiaomi ever announced, and one of the most powerful in general. Still, this is higher than Samsung is asking for the Galaxy S23 Ultra in Europe, for example.

It will be interesting to see if this info is accurate, and how well will the phone sell despite this price tag. I wonder if consumers in the EU shifted their state of mind, if they see Xiaomi as a premium brand now. It became well-known as a budget brand, and that has changed over the years.

Also, it’s not clear whether this will be the most affordable variant of the phone. Xiaomi could end up offering a 12GB RAM model with 256GB of storage, which could end up being a bit more affordable.

We still don’t know when will the device launch in Europe, however. Xiaomi did not reveal that info, and neither did the tipster.

Google changes Call Screen settings giving users three options to combat unwanted calls

The Pixel Call Screen feature, part of the Phone app on certain Pixel handsets, has a feature that screens incoming calls based on whether they are from numbers that appear on Google’s spam database, numbers that have been altered and are being used by spammers (such as those that seem similar to your number or have the first three digits of your number), calls from first-time callers, and calls from those using a private or hidden number.

For these calls, Pixel 6 and Pixel 7 models allow you to choose how you want your phone to respond. For example, with calls from numbers that appear on the spam database owned by Google, you can leave the default setting which is to put the call through, have these calls screened automatically with robocalls declined, or have such calls silently declined. With the other three types of calls (faked numbers, first-time calls, and private/hidden numbers) you have two options: allow the phone call to ring, or have the call screened automatically.
Per Android Police, Google is changing these settings but in the process, it is making the controls less granular and is combining all of your options into three “Protection Level” settings. Select the maximum level and your phone will screen unknown numbers and decline spam. Choose the medium level of protection and your phone will screen suspicious calls and decline spam. And the basic level protection, if selected, will decline only known spam.

To get to the Call Screen settings, on your Pixel 6 or Pixel 7 series device open the Phone app and tap the three-button menu icon on the right side of the search bar at the top of the screen. Go to Settings > Spam and Call Screen > Call Screen. The new Protection Level menu was spotted in version 106.0.534575879 of the Google Phone app although the rollout seems to be very limited at the moment.

Bottom line, Pixel 6 and Pixel 7 series users who found setting up their Call Screen settings to be too difficult will appreciate the new menu but others might prefer leaving the current menu setup as is which gives users more options.

A new info-stealing malware called Bandit Stealer is capable of evading detection and stealing personal and financial banking data stored in cryptocurrency wallets and web browsers.

Bandit Stealer is a new information stealer that Trend Micro cybersecurity researchers recently detected. According to their analysis, Bandit Stealer can target cryptocurrency wallets and web browsers and successfully evade detection.

Currently, Bandit Stealer is targeting Windows devices, but the malware has the potential to extend its reach to other platforms as well since it is developed using the Go programming language, which means it has cross-platform compatibility. It can check whether it is running in a virtual environment or sandbox and quickly terminate blocklisted processes to evade detection on the compromised system.

It is worth noting that the malware is distributed through phishing emails. These emails contain a dropper file, which launches a harmless-looking MS Word attachment to distract the user. In the background, it triggers the infection chain.

The malware targets Windows by using a legitimate command-line tool known as runas.exe. This tool allows users to run programs for a different purpose with different permissions. The primary objective is to gain privilege escalation and execute the file with administrative access to bypass security mechanisms and steal a wider range of data.

“By using the runas.exe command, users can run programs as an administrator or any other user account with appropriate privileges, provide a more secure environment for running critical applications, or perform system-level tasks,” Trend Micro researchers wrote in a blog post.

It is worth noting that Microsoft’s access control prevention mechanism will require it to run the malware binary as an administrator after receiving the necessary credentials. This utility is useful when the current user account doesn’t offer sufficient privilege for executing a specific program command.

The malware establishes persistence through Windows Registry modifications and collects data, including personal and financial banking data stored in crypto wallets and web browsers.

Researchers claim to have discovered a fake installer of the Heart Sender service, which is used to automate the spam SMS and email sending process. Through this trick, the user unknowingly launches the embedded malware.

Attackers can use the information stolen through Bandit Stealer and other stealers in various ways. They can exploit it for identity theft, data breaches, financial gain, account hijacking, and credential-stuffing campaigns. They can also sell it to other cybercriminals or use it in follow-on attacks, such as double extortion and ransomware attacks.
