The Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 is coming later this year, and while we’re waiting for that to happen, the Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 rumors are already here. According to new info from a trusted source, Qualcomm may use its internally-developed Nuvia CPU for the Snapdragon 8 Gen 4.
The Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 could utilize a ‘Nuvia’ CPU, following a deal from 2021
As some of you may recall, Qualcomm acquired chip startup Nuvia back in 2021. There is one important reason why Qualcomm did that, to lower its dependence on ARM for its Snapdragon processors.
We’ve been waiting to hear more information about that, and here it is. The Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 may mark a new beginning for Qualcomm’s Snapdragon chips, in a way. This information comes from Digital Chat Station, by the way, a well-known Chinese tipster.
This processor allegedly has a model number SM8750, and it will utilize a dual 2+6 setup. That is basically all the specific info about this chip that we have at the moment.
The Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 will use a different core setup
Now, for those of you who don’t know, the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 uses a Kryo CPU. Qualcomm utilized a different setup here, where it uses one prime core, four performance cores, and three efficiency cores. Therefore, we’re looking at a 1+4+3 setup here. The Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 will, as mentioned in the previous paragraph, do things differently.
That processor is not expected to debut until late 2024, so there’s still plenty of time until then. Things could change by then, though it’s quite interesting Digital Chat Station decided to share this so early.
The Snapdragon 8 Gen 3, on the other hand, is tipped to utilize a 1+5+2 core structure. That chip is also tipped to have clock speeds at around 3.7GHz, so a bit faster than the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2.

Samsung is showcasing its latest innovations in display technology at the SID Display Week 2023, which begins today at the Los Angeles Convention Center in California. The Korean firm has brought, among other things, a rollable OLED panel that can expand more than five times its vertical length. It has also put new foldable concepts in the exhibition at the event, which runs through Thursday, May 25.
Called Rollable Flex, Samsung’s latest display product aims to solve the portability issue with large-screen devices. In its full size, the device measures 254.4 mm (or ten inches) in length. But it can be rolled into a small 49 mm (less than two inches) tall display at will. An O-shaped axis at the bottom rolls in the extra screen space like a scroll. It can be similarly unrolled to get a bigger display whenever needed.
According to Samsung, the 5x scalability offered by the Rollable Flex makes it the ideal solution for portability issues. Conventional foldable or slidable displays only offer up to three times the scalability. The Korean firm previously showcased a couple of slidable panels that extend vertically and horizontally. But none of those solutions offer as much scalability as the Rollable Flex. No wonder the company itself calls it “the most eye-catching product” at the SID Display Week 2023.
“The biggest feature is that we were able to turn a difficult-to-carry large-sized display into a portable form factor by making it rollable,” Samsung Display said in a press release ahead of the display event in California. Samsung showcased more futuristic OLED display solutions at the event

Intel has revealed early details about its next-gen artificial intelligence (AI) chip. Called Falcon Shores, this chip will reportedly boast 288GB of high bandwidth memory (HMB3) and support 8-bit floating-point computation. The company plans to introduce it in 2025.
Falcon Shores will help Intel make inroads into the AI chip market
Intel announced the plans during the ongoing ISC 2023 conference in Hamburg, Germany. It is a tech industry event for high-performance computing, machine learning, data analytics, and quantum computing. Intel’s forthcoming Falcon Shores chip will cater to the high-performance needs of generative AI applications, an industry that has seen a massive surge over the past few months. The company says it will be ready for the next generation of large language models (LLMs), which are the brains behind AI tools such as OpenAI’s ChatGPT and Google Bard.
The California-based semiconductor giant is seemingly going after Nvidia and AMD with the Falcon Shores. Nvidia is currently the industry leader in AI chips. Its latest solution H100 boasts 80GB of memory, so Intel is offering more than three times that memory with its forthcoming chip. Of course, Nvidia could come up with improved solutions by the time Falcon Shores is market-ready. But Intel is surely making early inroads into this segment as the interest in AI and surrounding technologies grows big rapidly.
Meanwhile, AMD is entering this scene with the MI300 later this year. It’s the company’s first chip design dedicated to high-performance computing. The chip is reportedly based on TSMC’s 5nm process and features advanced technologies such as 3D die stacking and on-package memory with ultrawide bandwidth (via). The competition in the AI chip market is heating up nicely with all the big players fighting to grab a foothold in it. Time will tell whether Intel or AMD can topple Nvidia or even get close to it anytime soon.
Intel may have finally finished work on Ponte Vecchio
Intel is lagging behind Nvidia in the high-performance computing market because of the time it took to develop its competing chip named Ponte Vecchio. The would-be Nvidia competitor suffered several delays over the years. It finally appears to be ready for the market. The company announced at the ISC 2023 conference that it has almost wrapped up work on Argonne National Lab’s Aurora supercomputer based on Ponte Vecchio. Intel claims it to be faster than Nvidia’s H100, but there’s no real-world proof of it yet.
According to Jeff McVeigh, corporate vice president of Intel’s super compute group, this delay is due to it trying to come up with the best combination of CPU and GPU. The company appears to have changed this strategy recently. “While we aspire to have the best CPU and the best GPU in the market, it was hard to say that one vendor at one time was going to have the best combination of those,” McVeigh told Reuters. “If you have discrete offerings, that allows you at the platform level to choose both between the ratio as well as the vendors.”

They’re made for watching Amazon Prime Video, listening to audible audiobooks, reading books on the Kindle library, downloading apps from the Amazon store, and who can forget shopping for items using Amazon? Not only are they great media consumption devices, but they are also very affordable.
The Amazon Fire Max 11 is amazing (well, for Amazon Fire tablet standards)
Starting off with the display, this is the biggest Amazon Fire tablet with an 11-inch display. That’s only an 8% increase over the 10.1-inch Fire tablets, but you can’t argue with more screen real estate. As for the resolution, it also got a little bit of a boost but not by much. The Fire Max 11 has a resolution of 2,000 by 1,200. That’s 9,600 pixels more than a standard 1080p display.
Moving on to the internals, this tablet, annoyingly, is sporting an unnamed SOC. All we know is that it is an octa-core processor clocked at 2.2 GHz. Amazon claims that this is the most powerful Fire tablet ever. However, you shouldn’t expect a Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 to be in this device. If anything, maybe a Snapdragon 7 Gen processor. We also can’t rule out a mid-range media text Dimensity processor.
As for the other internals, this tablet has 4 gigabytes of RAM which should be just enough for a device such as this. That’s backed up by 64GB of internal storage, which is up from 32GB in the other tablets. There’s also a 128GB model. Again, that should be good for what you use this tablet for.
We don’t know the battery capacity for this tablet, but we know that it does have Wi-Fi 6 compatibility.
You’re not exactly going to use this for hardcore work, but you can use a keyboard case and an Amazon stylist with this tablet. In fact, you can try Microsoft 365 Personal free for 3 months (then $6.99/month afterward).

Earlier this year, there was a lot of talk about Bally Sports and its parent-company, Diamond Sports Group declaring bankruptcy. It happened, and DSG is now trying to restructure its commitments. But with that, DSG has not paid the San Diego Padres a scheduled rights payment.
The Padres are not the first to not be paid by DSG, as they do join the Arizona Diamondbacks, Cleveland Guardians, Texas Rangers, Cincinnati Red and the Minnesota Twins.
A hearing has been set for May 31, for the judge to weigh on on the case and rule on what fair market value of the deals could be. But according to recent reports, DSG might be willing to relinquish some of the rights that it holds. It’s also very likely that DSG won’t pay the Padres their rights fees by the time the grace period ends on May 30.
DSG could walk away from every MLB team it does not have streaming rights for
Bally Sports only has streaming rights for a handful of teams, but it has broadcast rights for another nine teams which includes the Padres. Obviously, Bally Sports and DSG are able to make more of a profit on the teams that it has streaming rights for. And negotiations between DSG and the MLB teams for streaming rights, have not gone well.
DSG has promised the MLB that if it does get streaming rights to those nine teams, that it would pay the full amount of its rights deals to each team for the entire length of their contracts. However, the MLB believes that DSG is required to do that anyway, as part of their existing contracts.
Bally sports and its parent-company, aren’t willing to give up any of the teams that it has rights too. Which, who can blame them? Broadcasting local sports is quite pricey already, and the more teams you have, the more people you can sell Bally Sports+ to. But as it stands right now, that’s really only feasible for a small number of markets.
Last year, Meta moved to buy Giphy, the platform that provides gifts to a large chunk of the internet. However, as ordered by the UK, Meta is now selling Giphy to a different company. It’s selling Giphy to Shutterstock, according to Engadget.
Antitrust and anti-competition practices are a big topic nowadays especially with Microsoft still trying to buy Activision-Blizzard. Companies are always kept under a watchful eye to make sure that they don’t become too big and make it impossible for other companies to succeed in the same space.
In the case of Meta, the company purchased the GIF platform a few years ago for a whopping $400 million. Not too long after, the UK tried to get Meta to sell the GIF platform in order to keep Meta from having such a grip over the GIF landscape.
It moved to make Meta sell it, but that decision was halted for a bit. In July of last year, the UK reconsidered this decision and brought Meta back to the court.
Meta is selling Giphy to Shutterstock at a massive loss
At the end of the day, Meta was beaten, and it was forced to sell off Giphy to another company. That other company is the stock photo giant Shutterstock. The issue is that Meta is only going to pocket $53 million from this deal. That’s only just over 13% of what Meta bought Giphy for. As you can imagine, Meta is not happy about that.
However, while Meta is selling Giphy to Shutterstock, its services will still be able to use the platform. If you’re a person who typically uses GIFs on Facebook, Instagram, or Whatsapp, Giphy’s gifts will still work properly across those platforms.
The deal itself is set to close sometime in June, so that’s not too far away. Well, this is a loss for Meta, this will benefit Shutterstock.
Today, HBO MAX was officially rebranded as simply, “Max”. And with it comes a lot of changes. Basically, Max is the combination of HBO, Warner Bros and Discovery into a single app. Which makes for a pretty big streaming service, one that could and should rival Netflix and Hulu.
However, instead of simply updating the HBO MAX app and adding Discovery content to it, Warner Bros Discovery decided it was better to create a new app. So now, you’ll need to go through and download MAX onto every device you have HBO MAX available on.
I’ve done this on a couple of devices that I have, it was rather painless. Download the app, and then it logs you in automatically. I imagine it is taking the login from your HBO MAX app to log you in. Since they have the same underworkings, it’s not that big of a deal, just a bit messy.
The app itself, is a bit different than HBO MAX
The Max app itself is a bit different compared to HBO MAX. With the biggest difference being that the side menu is gone. Instead there’s a menubar at the top of the screen for Home, Series, Movies, HBO and New & Notable. So it’s not quite as easy to navigate as HBO MAX was, especially with the addition of Discovery content here.
The company has done a good job of mixing in Discovery content with Warner Bros content. Of course, Warner Bros has a lot more content. After all, it is the largest studio in the US. And Discovery mainly does reality TV shows. Which are a lot cheaper to make, compared to Warner Bros. But there’s no longer a dedicated tab to DC for Batman, Wonder Woman, Aquaman and others.
It’ll take some getting used to, but so far, the app is performing a lot better than the HBO MAX app ever did.

This is the third new feature released this month after Caption Polls, Chat Lock. Earlier this month, Caption Polls was released by WhatsApp, in which users can turn off multiple poll answers for polling from a user.
Last week, WhatsApp released the Chat Lock feature, which can be used for locking a chat from an inbox that can only be unlocked if the user uses their device to unlock a password or pattern. It also hides the content of the locked chat in notifications.
In addition to this, the message editing feature has been rolled out now and will be available to all users in the coming weeks, as stated by WhatsApp.
