Check out upcoming Vivo foldables in all colors, along with specs

Vivo is planning to announce some new foldables in a couple of days, and they’ve just surfaced in all colors, along with their specs. The devices in question are, of course, the Vivo X Fold 2 and the Vivo X Flip. Both phones will launch on April 20 in China.

Upcoming Vivo foldables appear in all colors, along with their specs

Having said that, if you check out the gallery below this paragraph, you’ll see the two phones in all colors. On top of that, the Vivo Pad 2 tablet is also shown here. We’re only assuming these are all the colors that will be on offer, but VIvo may yet surprise us.

The Vivo X Fold 2 will arrive in black, red, and blue colors. All three phones will have a two-tone finish, it seems, while the black model’s pattern will differ from the one on the other two color options, as shown above.

The Vivo X Flip will launch in black, purple, and gold color variants. Each of these models will have a different pattern on the back. The black model will be clear, without a pattern. On the purple model, you’ll notice crossing lines across the phone, while the gold model will have a pattern that resembles waves or a piece of fabric moving due to a wing or something like that.

This makes each of these phones look rather different, in all honesty. You’ll notice the phone’s cover display in these images too. That display will be rather spacious, and it reminds us of the Motorola Razr 2022.

The last device shown here is the VIvo Pad 2. That tablet will launch in gray, blue, and purple colors. It will have a gradient finish on the back, it seems, and the design will be exactly what you’d expect.

When it comes to specs, Ishan Agarwal, a tipster, shared them for both phones. The Vivo X Fold 2 will feature the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 SoC. It will also include an 8.03-inch 2160 x 1916 main display. A 6.53-inch 2520 x 1080 cover display will also be included. Both displays will offer a 120Hz refresh rate.

The phone will feature a 4,800mAh battery, while it will support 120W wired, and 50W wireless charging. There will be an in-display fingerprint scanner on both displays.

A 50-megapixel main camera will be backed by a 12-megapixel ultrawide camera, and a 12-megapixel portrait camera. A 16-megapixel front-facing camera will also be included, likely on both displays.

The device will measure 161.3 x 73.4 x 13mm when folded. It will be 6-6.7mm thick when unfolded. The Vivo X Fold 2 will weigh 280 grams.

The Vivo X Flip will be inferior to the Vivo X Fold 2, but still quite powerful

The Vivo X Flip will be fueled by the Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 SoC. It will feature a 6.74-inch main AMOLED display with a 120Hz refresh rate. A 3-inch cover display will also be included.

The phone will feature a 4,400mAh battery, and support 44W wired charging. A 50-megapixel main camera will be backed by a 12-megapixel ultrawide camera. A 32-megapixel front-facing camera will also be included. This phone will feature an in-display fingerprint scanner too, allegedly, though we’re not sure if it will be included on both displays. That would only make sense, as you won’t be able to use the cover display properly without opening the phone. It would make much more sense to include a side-facing fingerprint scanner.

The Vivo X Flip will measure 166.4 x 75.3 x 8.2mm, while it will weigh 200 grams. Both phones will launch on April 20 in China, and it remains to be seen if they’ll make their way to more markets.

Western Digital Hack

WD (Western Digital), the data storage solutions provider, recently announced a distressing announcement.

In a cybersecurity incident, their network suffered a data breach that allowed threat actors to unauthorizedly access data across multiple systems.

Threat actors behind the recent cyber attack on Western Digital (WD) have proclaimed the responsibility for unauthorizedly stealing approximately 10 terabytes of data from the company’s systems.

Data Breach

The hackers responsible for this data breach are now attempting to extort the company by demanding a ransom of no less than 8 figures.

The extortionists allegedly threaten to publish the sensitive data they have stolen if their demands are unmet. The company affirmed that the attackers had gained access to several of its systems and exfiltrated data from those systems.

Here’s what Western Digital stated:-

“In connection with the ongoing incident, an unauthorized third party gained access to a number of the Company’s systems.” 

While after this event, Western Digital released a statement claiming they are actively investigating the scope of the breach and the compromised data. 

They did not disclose any detailed information on the nature of the stolen data. Apart from this, WD is actively working to fix all its business operations by implementing all the necessary security measures.

There has been a significant impact on the services offered by Western Digital due to this recent security breach. As multiple users have reported several issues with “My Cloud,” it’s one of its cloud operating services.

To confirm their claims, one of the hackers behind the recent Western Digital data breach spoke with TechCrunch, revealing more information about the incident. 

During the conversation, the hacker shared a file that had been digitally signed with Western Digital’s code-signing certificate. 

This file demonstrated the ability of the hackers to impersonate Western Digital by digitally signing files, raising concerns about the potential for further attacks or malicious activity.

Not only that, even several company executives’ phone numbers were also allegedly exposed by the hackers. The hackers claimed to have left voicemail greetings that mentioned their names in two phone numbers.

Despite their intention to encrypt Western Digital’s files with ransomware, the hackers said they aimed to make money.

The hacker asserted that they would start publishing the compromised data on ransomware gang Alphv’s website if they didn’t receive any response from Western Digital.

The OnePlus 11 is out on the market, and it’s a solid offering. However, what if you can quite afford that phone? Well, we have a new leak of the cheaper OnePlus Nord 3, and it shows us a pretty nice-looking device.

New leak shows the OnePlus Nord 3

OnePlus’ Nord phones are the company’s more affordable phones, and its main line Nord phones are the most powerful of the bunch. We’ve been waiting for information on the Nord, it’s finally come thanks to Yogesh Brar (via GSM Arena).

The leak suggests that the OnePlus Nord 3 will come with a 6.7-inch display with a 1.5K resolution (1240 x 2772) which is between 1080p and 1440p. We expect it to be AMOLED and have a 120Hz refresh rate.

Moving onto the internals, this phone is expected to be powered by the MediaTek Dimensity which is the same processor powering the OnePlus Pad. It’s the company’s most powerful SoC out right now. We don’t know the RAM or storage options yet.

As for the camera package, it looks like this phone will have a triple-camera package. The main sensor could be 64MP and accompanied by an 8MP ultrawide camera and a 2MP macro camera. As for the selfie camera, we’re looking at a 16MP sensor.

Moving onto the battery, this phone could have a large 5000mAh battery keeping the lights on. This should give it great battery life depending on your usage.

The OnePlus Nord 3 might launch with a price between ₹30 (around $367 USD) and ₹40 ($489 USD). That sounds like a decent price for this phone. We don’t know the launch date for this phone, but it’s expected to launch between six and eight weeks.

Samsung made a welcome change to the internal design of its phones with the Galaxy S23 series earlier this year. It included a pull tab to make battery replacement easier. The company is seemingly bringing this design improvement to its foldables as well. Both Galaxy Z Fold 5 and Galaxy Z Flip 5 will have pull tabs under their batteries, a recent certification listing confirms.

The battery packs for Samsung’s 2023 foldables were recently certified by the South Korean regulatory agency Safety Korea. As usual, each device will include two batteries — one each in either half. The power units for the Galaxy Z Fold 5 bear the model numbers EB-BF946ABY and EB-BF947ABY (the device has the model number SM-F946). Likewise, batteries for the Galaxy Z Flip 5 (SM-F731) have the model numbers EB-BF731ABY and EB-BF732ABY.

Safety Korea has publicly listed its certifications for these batteries complete with their images. As you can see below, all four units have a pull tab. This would make replacing the battery a whole lot easier. Repair technicians will not have to deal with an extensive amount of glue. Simply pull out the tab and the battery will come out with it. Many brands offered this convenience for a long time, but Samsung didn’t until a few months back. It is finally listening to its fans and DIY (do it yourself) enthusiasts.

The Galaxy Z Flip 5 may feature a smaller battery

The text printed on the batteries is blurry and not legible in the images shared by Safety Korea. We can’t see their capacities. However, Galaxy Club confirms that the EB-BF731ABY (secondary battery for the Galaxy Z Flip 5) has a rated capacity of 971mAh. It’s marginally smaller than the one found inside the Galaxy Z Flip 4 (rated capacity of 1,040mAh). This suggests that the new Flip model will arrive with a smaller battery. But we can only be sure after we know the capacity of the primary battery (EB-BF732ABY).

It is worth mentioning here that Samsung tested two sets of batteries for the Galaxy Z Fold 4 last year: EB-BF721ABY/EB-BF722ABY and EB-BF723ABY/EB-BF724ABY. The latter set has a higher combined capacity and made it to the end product. So it’s possible that the new batteries certified by Safety Korea may not ship inside the Galaxy Z Flip 5 and Galaxy Z Fold 5 later this year. We shall find out soon as leaks and rumors about the new foldables have started to come thick and fast. The devices will launch in the second half of 2023.

This phone has a smaller 6.6-inch OLED display and it shares the 144Hz refresh rate with the Plus variant. Moving onto the camera, this phone has a 50MP main camera with a 32MP selfie camera up front. Keeping the lights on, there’s a large 5,000mAh battery.

Ever since the start of the AI revolution late last year with the launch of ChatGPT and other language processing models, the music industry has expressed its concerns, as people are now using AIs to analyze existing music to generate original compositions. As a result, record label Universal Music Group (UMG) reportedly sent a letter to the streaming services, warning them against allowing AI labs to scrape millions of tracks to use as training data for their models.

This move from UMG follows a similar step taken by the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA) in October 2022, where the body expressed its concerns that AI could produce very similar or almost as good as reference tracks by selected well-known sound recording artists.

UMG fears that this scraping of original songs to train AIs will allow them to copy top artists in an indistinguishable way. This is because these music generator AIs have become increasingly sophisticated and can now create convincing fakes of famous artists performing new cover versions of popular songs. For example, an AI-generated Jay-Z track was so good that it prompted one of the first successful copyright strikes after the artist’s agent, Roc Nation, had the song pulled from YouTube. On the other hand, systems like Google’s MusicLM are capable of generating entirely new compositions from text prompts.

Recent Changes to UK Intellectual Property

In an effort to assist in the provision of training data for AI systems, the UK government recently amended its intellectual property law to allow for the non-commercial use of legally acquired copyrighted material for AI research. However, some experts have criticized this as “data laundering” since people can legally use this research to train commercial models and still enjoy copyright exceptions.

Although AI-generated music is a fascinating innovation, it raises important copyright issues. Therefore, streaming platforms and companies like Google must take measures to prevent copyright infringement and compensate rights holders for their work. UMG has warned that it will take steps to safeguard its artists’ rights and the music industry as a whole.

Run Lynis with Custom Tests

Your system may not need to run all the tests. If your server not running a web server, you don’t need to test it. For this purpose, we can use –tests parameter. The syntax is :

To get more Tests-IDs, you can find it inside /var/log/lynis.log. Here’s a trick how to do it.

1. First, we need to run lynis with -c (check-all) parameter.

# ./lynis -c -Q

2. Then look at inside /var/log/lynis.log file. Use cat command and combine it with grep. Let say you want to search Test-ID which related to Kernel. Use keyword KRNL to find it.

# cat /var/log/lynis.log | grep KRNL

Run lynis with categories

If you feel that put a lot of Test-IDs is painful, you can use –test-category parameter. With this option, Lynis will run Test-IDs which are included inside a specific category. For example, you want to run Firewall and Kernel tests. Then you can do this :

# ./lynis –tests-category “firewalls kernel”

Run Lynis as Cronjob

Since security needs consistency, you can automate Lynis to run periodically. Let’s say you want to run it every month to see if there is any improvement since the last Lynis run. To do this, we can run Lynis as a cronjob. Here’s a sample cronjob to run it every month.

Following the company’s confirmation of the Xiaomi 13 Ultra camera sensors, the company’s CEO has just confirmed the addition of variable aperture too.

Lei Jun went to Twitter to confirm that the Xiaomi 13 Ultra’s 1-inch main camera will include variable aperture. He also added that it’ll have a span between f/1.9 and f/4.0, which are great news.

Variable aperture is exactly what that 1-inch camera sensor needs, so that you can jump between that creamy bokeh at f/1.9, to an entirely different scenario at f/4.0. Not to mention that this feature will allow the phone to adapt to different light settings with ease.

That 1-inch camera sensor on the phone is outstanding, but it allows for a lot of light to enter, so it can be a bit difficult to balance the shot sometimes. Well, the addition of variable aperture will definitely help out with that.

The Xiaomi 13 Ultra will become the very first phone out there to offer variable aperture on a 1-inch camera sensor. Huawei used variable aperture on the Mate 50 Pro, though on an entirely different sensor, and that phone provides outstanding photos.

All camera sensors on the phone have been confirmed, at least as far as rear-facing cameras go

As mentioned earlier, Xiaomi already confirmed that the main camera on the phone will be a 1-inch unit from Sony. Sony’s IMX989 sensor, in case you were wondering. The other three cameras will utilize the Sony IMX858 sensor. We’ll get ultrawide, telephoto, and periscope telephoto cameras. All that with Leica lenses, of course.

The Xiaomi 13 Ultra will become official on April 18, and it’s coming to both China and global markets. We also know that it will be fueled by the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 SoC, and supports 90W wired and 50W wireless charging. It will likely use the same 6.73-inch QHD+ AMOLED display as the Xiaomi 13 Pro, with an adaptive 120Hz refresh rate.
