In a bold move, IntelBroker claims to have breached the database of the Los Angeles International Airport, making off with a trove of confidential user data belonging to private plane owners – The breach, according to the hacker, took place in February 2024.

It is important to note that no customer or traveller data is involved in this breach. However, the incident has apparently resulted in the compromise of a significant 2.5 million records, including sensitive information such as:

  • Full names
  • CPA numbers
  • Email addresses (1.9 million emails – total 15,8000 emails after removing duplicates).
  • Company names
  • Plane model numbers
  • Tail numbers (Refers to an identification number painted on an aircraft tail).

ASUS ROG Phone 8 Pro US sales begin this month

0
[ad_1]

The US launch of the ROG Phone 8 Pro is just around the corner. ASUS announced the ROG Phone 8 series earlier this year and confirmed that the device would be headed to the US. The unfortunate downside was that there was no confirmed release date. Even now, if you head to the official US ASUS shop, the website simply says “notify me” on the buy page. We were lucky enough to review the ROG Phone 8 Pro Edition device shortly after its announcement and have been loving it ever since. So much so that we want others to experience the same kind of excitement we have for this top-notch mobile gaming device.

The good news is that you won’t have to wait much longer. Now, you could technically buy the phone right now on Amazon. But that’s not recommended, since they come from third-party sellers and they’re not the official US model. There’s also the small detail of them having highly inflated prices. In short, wait for ASUS to put these on sale officially. It’s coming sooner than you think.

The ROG Phone 8 Pro US launch begins February 29

The US market is not generally a big one for ASUS when it comes to the company’s phones. But it has been steadily releasing more of its devices here. In fact, this is going to be the soonest ASUS has ever launched one of the ROG Phones in the US. Last year with the ROG 7 series, the phone was announced in late March and didn’t launch until the Summer. And the ROG Phone 6 series was even further out in the year when it launched the year prior.

This year, ASUS decided to announce the phone at CES in January. And now you can finally buy it this month. The phone is confirmed to be going up for sale starting on February 29. The phones will then begin shipping between March 11 and March 31. Details of the sales dates come from GSM Arena, which reached out to an official sales partner for ASUS in the US, Mobile Advance, who confirmed the dates. Worth noting is that Mobile Advance only mentions the ROG Phone 8 Pro. The ROG Phone 8 standard model may or may not go up for sale at the same time.

There are other factors to consider too. Sales begin February 29 but these are just pre-orders. And these may not be the sale dates for either of the phones from ASUS directly or other partners like Amazon. According to the ASUS shop, you’ll be able to buy both the Pro and Pro Edition models of the phone. The former will retail for $1,199 and the latter will retail for $1,499. The main difference is that the Pro Edition model comes with 24GB of RAM and 1TB of storage. Whereas the Pro model comes with 16GB of RAM and 512GB of storage. All other specs are the same. The Pro Edition model also comes bundled with the AeroActive Cooler X.

Google and Reddit announce partnership to improve content discoverability across both services

0
[ad_1]

Google and Reddit have both announced an expansion of their existing partnership, aiming to make Reddit content more discoverable and accessible through Google’s products. The news follows earlier reports that a multi-million dollar deal was in the works that would give Google access to use Reddit posts in order to to train its AI models.
According to the announcement, this collaboration leverages Google’s Vertex AI technology and Reddit’s Data API to achieve this goal. What this means for Reddit users is that they can expect to see more relevant Reddit content surfaced across Google services. This translates into users beginning to see more personalized recommendations for subreddits, or even snippets of interesting Reddit threads, appearing in Google search results. Essentially, it will be easier for Reddit users to find and engage with content.
This partnership gives Google access to Reddit’s Data API, which Google will in turn use to train and enrich its AI models and improve its products and services. Google says that by improving its understanding of user preferences and online behavior, the company will be able to provide more personalized and relevant results in its search results.

Let us address the elephant in the room

Perhaps what is not being said here is how Reddit leveraged its early decision to restrict API access, which turns out has worked out in the company’s favor. Reddit reiterates that this deal does not change its Data API and Developer terms, driving home the point that this data cannot be used for commercial purposes unless you have the company’s approval — though more restricted API access does remain free for non-commercial use.

However, this expanded partnership between Google and Reddit will undoubtedly be mutually beneficial. Aside from any financial motivations the company may or may not have considered in their latest moves, Reddit users will now have improved content discovery capabilities, while Google will gain valuable data to enhance its products. Ultimately, this collaboration has the potential to create a more enriching and personalized online experience for both companies as well as its users.

The Future of MATIC and What to Expect in 2024

0
[ad_1]

The world of cryptocurrency is unpredictable yet lucrative. Understanding the workings and creation of crypto is a topic for another day, as it involves technical processes such as mining, which utilizes specialized hardware and software to add transactions to the Blockchain.

Bullrun, which took place in 2021, was a bit tricky for many traders out there. Some coins went up in price. Some cryptos fell. The value for MATIC decreased by approximately 11% in 2022. However, it went up by around 6% in 2023.

What will happen next with this coin? Will it keep increasing its price? Is it the right time to exchange MATIC for ATOM? Or will it eventually go down again in its value? Well, the honest answer to these questions is that nobody knows for sure.

However, in this article, we will dig deeper into predictions regarding the value of MATIC for the next 5 and 10 years. Are you ready to explore these intriguing insights? Let’s dive in.

Here, it is important to explain that MATIC, often referred to as Polygon, is a Layer 2 scaling solution built on top of the Ethereum blockchain. Its primary purpose is to address the scalability issues that Ethereum currently faces, such as high transaction fees and slow processing times.

How Much Will Polygon Cost in 2024?

Experts from Changelly.com assume that the Polygon value will grow in 2024. Some analysts say that the minimum price for MATIC in 2024 will be 1.16 USD per 1 coin. At the same time, the prediction of the maximum value reveals that MATIC could cost 1.32 USD per coin.

In January 2024, it can go up a little bit. Its value is likely to be 0.867 USD. Polygon is still expected to grow slowly in February, March, and April. Most probably, it’ll cost 1.03 USD in May. In September, it’ll be available for 1.20 USD. Finally, at the end of the year, Polygon will reach the point of 1.32 USD per 1 coin.

What Will Happen in 2028?

Different experts share different opinions regarding this. Let’s check them one by one.

  • According to Coinpedia, the highest possible value of Polygon will be 6.504 per coin. At the same time, crypto pros from this site share their opinion on the lowest possible cost of MATIC in 2028. They believe it is going to be 5.666 USD.
  • What about the prediction made by AMBCrypto? These guys think the cost of this crypto will be somewhere between $5.10 and $5.45 per 1 coin in 2028. These will be the minimum and the maximum prices accordingly.
  • Cryptonewsz has a different estimation. They believe the value of MATIC will be somewhere around $4.93. They assume that it will be able to go up to $6.23 in the best-case scenario. Its average price is going to be $5.07.
  • The next comes the prediction from Changelly. They state people will trade Polygon for approximately $5.07 per 1 coin in 2028. In their opinion, $6.23 per 1 coin will be the highest amount of money people want to pay for Polygon. On the other hand, $4.93 will be the lowest possible price.
  • Finally, Gov Capital has no rough numbers to share regarding the MATIC value prediction in 2028. However, they believe MATIC could be worth $1.237 in 5 years.

Thus, as you can see, most predictions tell us that the average MATIC cost in 2028 will be either $5 or $5.66. With such uncertainty, many traders will want to stick to stablecoins and exchange BTC for USDT.

What Will be the Price for MATIC in 2033?

Let’s wrap this up with the prediction for 2033. What is going to happen to Polygon in 2033? That’s an intriguing question to explore. In fact, during our research, we’ve discovered that not so many sites are willing to make such long-term predictions.

Coindataflow is the only site that has made such estimates for 2033. They believe that the price of Poygon will grow by a staggering 2311.21% in the best-case scenario! Thus, it will be worth $12.55 in 2023.

Final Words

In this short blog, we’ve covered all the major predictions for Polygon prices for the next year. We’ve also explored estimates of how much it could cost in 2028 and 2033. Hopefully, now you are well-versed in this regard. However, we always underline the importance of doing your own research. It’s also good to be very cautious when it comes to finances.

Nonsense Gmail rumor prompts a response from Google

0
[ad_1]

Google felt obligated to offer its response to a nonsense Gmail report that has been making the rounds. That rumor basically said that Google is sunsetting Gmail, in other words, killing the service altogether.

Google is infamous for killing off services, so rumors like these are easier to believe

Google is well-known for killing off products, the company became rather infamous for it over the years. There’s even a website for it, https://killedbygoogle.com/. So hoax rumors like these are easier to believe, even though this one was obviously a fake.

Gmail is the most recognizable emailing service in the world. On top of that, your Google account is tied to a Gmail address, as are your logins to various services. Gmail is not going anywhere, and thanks to this hoax rumor, Google felt obligated to respond.

Nonsense Gmail rumor pushed Google to offer its response

The company went to X (formerly known as Twitter) and simply wrote “Gmail is here to stay”. Where did this rumor originate from, though? Well, we’re not sure, but users seem to be getting notified that it’s happening.

If you check out the post from X, embedded below, you’ll see a user ‘Daniel’ sharing the information. He actually believed that Gmail was going away, based on his comment, which you can see below.

Users seemingly received notifications that claim Gmail is going away

In the letter that he received, which looks somewhat plausible, the title says “Google is sunsetting Gmail”. The date mentioned is August 1, 2024. The letter alleged that Gmail will “no longer support sending, receiving, or storing emails”.

There’s even an explanation for why Gmail is “sunsetting”, which is just a bunch of nonsense. Gmail is not going anywhere, as many of you immediately realized upon seeing this letter for the first time.

We presume that he got this letter via email, and he probably didn’t realize that the email address it came from is fake, or something of the sort. We’re only guessing, of course.

Joomla! patches XSS flaws that could lead to remote code execution

0
[ad_1]

On February 20, Joomla! posted details about four vulnerabilities it had fixed in its Content Management System (CMS), and one in the Joomla! Framework that affects the CMS.

Joomla! is an open-source CMS that’s been around since 2005, and has been one of the most popular CMS platforms by market share for much of that time. Many companies, from small outfits to large enterprises, use a CMS in some form to manage their websites. There are lots of advantages to using a popular CMS, but if you do you should keep an eye out for updates. And this looks like an important one.

Just last month, a vulnerability patched in February 2023 was added to CISA’s catalog of known exploited vulnerabilities, suggesting a lack of patching urgency by some Joomla! owners. Let’s see if we can avoid duplicating that scenario.

To make this happen, Joomla! CMS users should upgrade to version 3.10.15-elts, 4.4.3 or 5.0.3. The latest releases that include the fixes are available for download. Links can be found on the release news page. The latest versions can always be found on the latest release tab. The extended long term support (elts) versions can be found on the dedicated elts site.

The Common Vulnerabilities and Exposures (CVE) database lists publicly disclosed computer security flaws. We’ll list them below,  but the descriptions of the vulnerabilities require some explaining.

  • CVE-2024-21722: The multi-factor authentication (MFA) management features did not properly terminate existing user sessions when a user’s MFA methods have been modified. This suggest that logged-in users could stay logged in if an administrator changed their MFA method. This is a problem if you are changing the MFA method because you suspect there has been unauthorized access.
  • CVE-2024-21723: Inadequate parsing of URLs could result into an open redirect. An open redirect vulnerability occurs when an application allows a user to control how an HTTP redirect behaves. Phishers love open redirects on legitimate sites because the URLs look like they go to the legitimate site, when in fact they redirect to another site.
  • CVE-2024-21724: Inadequate input validation for media selection fields lead to Cross-site scripting (XSS) vulnerabilities in various extensions. XSS is a type of vulnerability that allows an attacker to inject malicious code into a site’s content. Input validation should stop that injection.
  • CVE-2024-21725: Inadequate escaping of mail addresses lead to XSS vulnerabilities in various components. According to Joomla! this is the vulnerability with the highest exploitation probability. A website user could input data in the email address field that would cause a XSS vulnerability because it was not properly escaped. Email addresses need to be escaped because otherwise they could be interpreted as HTML code.
  • CVE-2024-21726: Inadequate content filtering leads to XSS vulnerabilities in various components. This is the vulnerability in the Joomla! Framework. Apparently there has been an oversight in the filtering code which can cause XSS vulnerabilities in several components. Researchers found that attackers can exploit this issue to gain remote code execution by tricking an administrator into clicking on a malicious link.

These researchers also urged users to update their CMS:

“”While we won’t be disclosing technical details at this time, we want to emphasize the importance of prompt action to mitigate this risk.”

Secure your CMS

There are a few obvious and easy-to-remember rules to keep in mind if you want to use a CMS without compromising your security. They are as follows:

  • Choose a CMS from an organization that actively looks for and fixes security vulnerabilities.
  • If it has a mailing list for informing users about patches, join it.
  • Enable automatic updates if the CMS supports them.
  • Use the fewest number of plugins you can, and do your due diligence on the ones you use.
  • Keep track of the changes made to your site and its source code.
  • Secure accounts with two-factor authentication (2FA).
  • Give users the minimum access rights they need to do their job.
  • Limit file uploads to exclude code and executable files, and monitor them closely.
  • Use a Web Application Firewall (WAF).

If your CMS is hosted on your own servers, be aware of the dangers that this setup brings and keep it separated from other parts of your network.

We don’t just report on vulnerabilities—we identify them, and prioritize action.

Cybersecurity risks should never spread beyond a headline. Keep vulnerabilities in tow by using ThreatDown Vulnerability and Patch Management.

These upcoming features show that Threads is catching up to Elon Musk’s X

0
[ad_1]

It’s official, Meta Threads is here to stay, as the app has been able to climb back up the rankings to become one of the most popular social media platforms. This is because it’s constantly adding new features to make it a better competitor to Elon Musk’s X. Mark Zuckerberg just announced a camera feature coming to Threads along with the ability to make drafts.

You’re undoubtedly going to use Threads to post images just like any other social media platform. However, some people don’t like the trouble of taking a picture with a camera app, navigating to the social media app, and finally getting it through the photo picker. Some people just want to open up the social media app and take a picture.

Well, the Threads camera feature will solve this issue

Right now, this feature has not been officially rolled out; however, it was officially announced. Mark Zuckerberg himself posted a picture to Threads of a picturesque snowy scene. The caption in the post reads “taken with the new camera we’re testing in Threads”. The picture itself looks pretty nice, but the quality will depend on the camera hardware you’re using. As for the features and tools that the camera will bring the Threads, we have no idea. Hopefully, the company will release a public test in the near future.

In the screenshot below, we see the camera icon hovering over the upload picture and GIFs icon. We’re not sure why it’s hovering over these UI elements, but, it’s still in testing. So, we expect it to change position.

Camera Asset

Drafts

Drafts is a feature coming to Threads that people will like. Sometimes, when you’re in the middle of typing a post, you get pulled away. Well, if you don’t keep the app open and in the RAM, you will lose the post you’re working on.

However, Threads is also getting a drafts feature. So, if you can’t finish the post you’re working on, you’ll be able to save it as a draft and edit it later. Based on the screenshot, it looks like the draft will be saved automatically once you exit the post composer. So, it’s a feature that you don’t really have to think about using. It will just work.

At this point, we don’t know when Meta plans to make these features public. However, based on the screenshots, they appear to be pretty far into production. So, hopefully, there won’t be much time to wait

Drafts Asset

These are just more features chipping off the list of things that Threads can’t do.

Threads begins to test saving drafts and taking photos inside of the app

0
[ad_1]
Launched last year as the answer to those that were looking for an alternative to Twitter (Now, X), Threads by Instagram has been slowly but surely been adding new features to enhance the user experience. In the latest round of updates, the app is testing the ability to draft posts as well as being able to snap a photo to share within the app.
The announcement was made by Instagram and Threads boss, Adam Mosseri, who is very active on the app and its community. In it, he stated that this test is currently underway with a small number of users.

From the screenshots shared, we can see that drafting a post simply involves swiping down on a post, at which point the draft then becomes available for future use. Additionally, if you are part of the test, you should see a camera icon in the post composer, right beside the icon to insert media. This will allow you to use your camera while you create a post and therefore save you a few taps.

While these are all welcome enhancements to the app, there are still a few features that the Threads community has been requesting for a while and that have yet to be implemented. The ability to send Direct Messages is one of them, a feature which is yet to be confirmed as one coming to the platform.

Despite this, Threads has continued to grow and reach an impressive 130 million monthly users. Mosseri and his team continue to push new features forward that brings the user experience closer to what you get with competing platforms, thus bringing an air of familiarity to the community. As shared by Mark Zuckerberg in a recent statement, he envisions Threads as a potential powerhouse platform for Meta, and the steady addition of user-requested features may just be how it will get there.
