These might be the colors of the Galaxy S24 and Galaxy S24+

[ad_1]

Just recently, we got a leak of some of the possible colors of the Galaxy S24 Ultra. They are a set of three nice-looking and elegant colors. Now, it’s time for the other variants. Thanks to leaker Ross Young, we got a leak of the possible colors for the Galaxy S24 and the Galaxy S24+.

We’re all gearing up to see what Samsung has to offer with its next phones. The company confirmed that it will host its unpacked event on January 17th. That’s not too far away, and we can bet that Galaxy fans are all excited. From what we can tell so far, it does not seem like Samsung is going to unveil many hardware changes with its new phones. Rather, it’s going to focus on software improvements and the implementation of AI technology.

Here are the possible colors for the Galaxy S24 and Galaxy S24+

At this point, it’s a bit tough to know which models will get which colors. Young posted a post on X showing a list of the possible colors. So, they may be split between the two variants of the phone.

These colors are Amber yellow, Cobalt Violet, Jade green, Marble Gray, Onyx Black, Sandstone Orange, and Sapphire Blue. Some of these colors sound similar to what we saw with the Galaxy S24 Ultra. The previous leak shows the phone in an orange, green, and blue color. So, these colors might be the Jade Green, Sandstone Orange, and Sapphire Blue colors.

As we can tell, these three phones may all resemble their predecessors. We see that Samsung has done away with the camera bump and opted to have all of the camera lenses extend directly from the body. It’s been that way since the Galaxy s22 Ultra, and the two lesser variants took on that philosophy last year.

The only main difference we’ll see is rumored to be with the Galaxy S24 Ultra. It looks like Samsung will finally ditch the curved display and opt for a flat display.

At this point, we don’t know with 100% certainty that these will be the colors of the Galaxy S24 and the Galaxy S24+, as this is still a leak. However, we will all find out soon enough.

LastPass Enforces 12-Character Master Password Limit For All

0
[ad_1]

After introducing the requirement as an optional security feature for some time, LastPass has now enforced 12-character master password as a mandatory requirement. While it previously applied to new users, this requirement now applies to the existing users as well.

LastPass Mandates 12-character Master Password

As announced via a recent blog post, the popular password manager LastPass has introduced several changes to its users’ accounts. The most important change includes the necessary 12-character limit for setting up the master password.

As stated, while the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) guidelines mention an 8-character minimum limit for a human-generated password, LastPass applied a 12-character limit for better security. Explaining this update, Mike Kosak, Senior Principal Intelligence Analyst at LastPass, highlighted the rising password breaches and contemporary password cracking techniques as the prime reason behind the recent requirement.

This isn’t an entirely new update since LastPass first implemented this feature in 2018 as the default setting. But it still allowed users to ignore this requirement.

However, given the rising cybersecurity threats, the existing LastPass users also have to update their master password now. The service started rolling out this change in April 2023 to the new and existing users attempting to reset their master passwords. And now, starting January 2024, all LastPass users must update their master passwords to meet the minimum 12-character limit.

While using 12 characters is the minimum requirement, LastPass recommends using more than 12 as best practices.

Other Major LastPass Updates

Besides implementing the new character limit for master passwords, LastPass has also introduced two noteworthy feature upgrades to the tool.

The first includes a dark web cross-checking feature that allows the tool to recheck all master passwords against a known database of breached credentials. This way, it will help the users in setting up strong master passwords.

The other feature update includes multi-factor authentication (MFA) re-enrollment, protecting users from potential threats due to “prior exposure of the LastPass MFA/Federation database backup.”

Cyqur Launches Data Encryption and Fragmentation Web Extension

0
[ad_1]

In today’s almost entirely digitised, cyber world, it’s imperative that private data and passwords remain secure and protected at all times. According to Business Insider (2022), Bitcoin investors are likely to lose up to $545 million in 2023, owing to various reasons like forgetting passwords to their wallets or wrongly recording their seed phrases.

In most cases, safeguarding sensitive access credentials requires entrusting them to third-party databases. This has proven to be a highly unreliable strategy, with data servers being unavailable or becoming compromised more and more frequently. A new type of solution is needed to combat the ever-growing proliferation of unauthorised data breaches.

A new level of data cyber safety

Cyqur is an easy-to-install browser extension, geared towards developers, DeFi enthusiasts, NFT collectors, remote workers, artists and creators, digital natives, and anyone else who is reluctant to entrust third parties with their most sensitive credentials.

The simple, yet powerful encryption and decryption web extension facilitates the storage and transmission of private data (passwords, seed phrases, etc.). The patented solution helps users achieve unparalleled peace of mind for their digital profiles.

What makes Cyqur different

By design, the Cyqur solution does not store the user data on his behalf either through third-party servers, or any other centralised means. Instead, it encrypts the user data and then fragments that encrypted data across a number of cloud storage locations chosen and controlled by the user.

Because of the fragmentation and decentralisation of data storage in this manner, all cloud storage locations can’t be compromised at the same time. This is a level of security that modern password managers and vaults can’t offer.

How Cyqur helps users achieve peace of mind

  1. Secure storage: User access credentials are duplicated, fragmented, encrypted, and scattered across multiple cloud storage locations that the user alone 100% owns and controls, all the while ensuring your data fragments remain encrypted at rest. Cyqur does not have access to any of your data and it doesn’t scrape or share user browsing data.
  2. Proprietary approach: Safeguards user data by using an immutable, automated, unique, independent, public blockchain proof of record for every access credential secured. User digital profile succession planning is ensured through the Custodian of Last Resort.
  3. Breach protection: In case of a breach, hackers only access incomplete and useless data, while you retain uninterrupted complete access to your user credentials that remain protected and safe.
  4. Crypto wallet protection: Specifically designed to provide next-level peace of mind by securing all access credentials to your valuable wallets, including your previous seed words.
  5. Uninterrupted access and credential sharing: Users retain complete and uninterrupted access to their most important data, even offline.

Limited opportunity to purchase at a discounted rate

Users who purchase Cyqur at this time will receive a 70% early-bird discount (from €48 to €15) for the first year. Users can get their annual license and start securing their cyber data here.

About Cyqur

Cyqur was brought to market by Binarii Labs to offer a new way of securing data. Designed with the utmost care and attention to detail, it provides unprecedented security in online data storage, which isn’t reliant on third-party solutions.

Whether it’s seed phrases, passwords, NFTs, pins, private blockchain keys, usernames, exchange accounts, hot & cold wallets, or any other access credentials that need to remain safe, Cyqur offers its users this high level of protection.

Google Pixel 8 can increase touch sensitivity when there’s a screen protector

0
[ad_1]

The Google Pixel 8 series devices are now smart enough to detect whether you are using a screen protector or not. The company has quietly activated the screen protector detector feature exclusively for the Google Pixel 8 series.

A screen protector may prove very useful when you don’t have to replace a damaged display panel, but the added distance between your finger and the digitizer may sometimes interfere with the proper touch functionality of the device. This screen protector detector feature in the Google Pixel 8 series aims to solve just that in a streamlined manner.

The screen protector detector on the Google Pixel 8 series detects when you apply or remove a screen protector. Upon attaching a screen protector, users receive a notification prompting them to enable the screen protector mode to increase the touch sensitivity. The notification reads, “Enabling screen protector mode improves touch when using a screen protector.” Tapping the notification provides users with three options: opening Settings, acknowledging the notification without dismissing it, or disabling the notification.

Enabling screen protector mode on Pixel 8 increases its touch sensitivity and disabling it reduces mistouches when there’s none

The convenience of this feature extends to the removal of a screen protector. When users take off the screen protector, a similar notification appears on the Google Pixel 8. This detection system adds a layer of user-friendly functionality. It ensures optimal touch performance based on the presence or absence of a screen protector.

As said, earlier Pixel devices like the Google Pixel 7 series don’t have this capability yet. Users now have a seamless way to be alerted about the need to enable or disable screen protector mode. Google is likely aiming to make the user experience more seamless from this perspective with the Pixel 8 series. We will have to see when they avail this feature for the previous models.

If you’re using the Google Pixel 8 or the Google Pixel 8 Pro, let us know if you have seen this notification while applying or removing a protector.

Scosche intros new accessories at CES, including modular Qi2 charging system

0
[ad_1]

Scosche just announced some new accessories at CES 2024, including Qi2 ones. This time around, Scosche basically focused on Qi2-certified chargers and charging phone mounts. As a reminder, the wireless power consortium announced Qi2 a year ago, and we’re seeing the first Qi2 devices out there now.

Scosche intros new accessories at CES 2024, led by the BaseLynx 2.0 Qi2 charging station

Scosche BaseLynx 2 0

Let’s kick things off with the most notable product in the lineup, the BaseLynx 2.0. This is a modular charging system with Qi2 wireless charging. As you can see in the image provided above, this charging system has plenty of room for your devices.

This charging system features a Qi2-certified magnetic wireless charging stand, which can simultaneously charge Qi2-enabled phones, along with AirPods, and an Apple Watch. There are four interchangeable, connectable modules here. You’ll be getting 60W of shared power between three USB-C ports. Scosche noted that this product is now available at Apple.com and select Apple stores.

The MagicMount Elite Charge 3-in-1 stand has also been announced

Scosche MagicMount Elite Charge 3 in 1

If you’re in need of a car mount, Scosche has you covered. The MagicMount Elite Charge 3-in-1 product is here, and it’s shown above. Why is it referred to as ‘3-in-1’? Well, because it offers three in-vehicle mount options: Dash, Locking Vent, and Back of Screen/Tablet. The mount head pivots and slider on an aluminum rail. A cable management system is also built in here.

The company also presented a line-up of MagSafe-compatible MagicMount wireless charging phone mounts. These are made for MagSafe iPhones, but with the included MagicRing Adapter, you can also charge Android devices.

If you need a wall charger, Scosche has you covered

Scosche PowerVolt wall charger

Speaking of charging, the company’s PowerVolt wall chargers are also here. These are GaN chargers, so they’re not only up to speed in the technology sense, but they’re also smaller than they’d be otherwise. Various options are available, from a single-port 30W charger to a 150W four port charger. All of them are made with 75% Certified Post Consumer Recycled Plastics.

The company also introduced some new cables

Scosche StrikeLine cable

Scosche also announced the Scosche PowerVolt 40W dual USB-C port car adapter. The same goes for the Scosche StrikeLine Charge and Sync cables. Two cables were announced, the StrikeLine USB4 High Performance cable and the StrikeLine Cobra magnetic cable.

OPPO Find X7 Ultra probably won’t launch globally

0
[ad_1]

OPPO announced two immensely compelling smartphones today, led by the OPPO Find X7 Ultra. The sad news is that the OPPO Find X7 Ultra may not launch globally. The same goes for the OPPO Find X7, actually.

The OPPO Find X7 Ultra probably won’t launch globally, unfortunately

The company did not mention anything of the sort during the launch event, but it did share some insight with us prior to the launch. The company’s representative said that there are no plans for the global launch event.

He did leave the door slightly open for the possibility of a global launch, but it doesn’t seem like it will happen. Based on what we were told, OPPO is fully focused on the China launch now, and is not even thinking of a global launch.

We do hope that the company will change its mind, though. The OPPO Find X6 Pro did not launch globally, which is a shame. That was one of the best camera smartphones we’ve used last year. It had a lot to offer in almost every aspect.

OPPO focused on the camera setup here

The OPPO Find X7 Ultra is its direct successor, and it packs even more camera prowess. It looks very promising, and it would be great if global consumers had a chance to experience it. Let’s hope OPPO will change its mind. We will review the OPPO Find X7 Ultra. The phone will be in the office very soon.

OPPO is using the ‘Quad Main Camera’ setup term for this phone’s rear cameras. Why? Well, because the company did its best to bring them on the same playing field. The whole point is that you can use either of the cameras and don’t feel like you’re using an inferior camera.

This is the first-ever smartphone with the Sony LYT-900 camera sensor & two periscope telephoto cameras

This is the first smartphone that utilizes Sony’s LYT-900 camera sensor. That 1-inch sensor is the main camera on the OPPO Find X7 Ultra. This is also the first smartphone that has two periscope telephoto cameras on the back (3x and 6x ones).

The company also worked a lot on image processing. The HyperTone Image Engine is supposed to be able to balance out those images to a high degree. We’ll see if the hype was worth it.

100W wired charging and 50W wireless charging are also included, along with one of the best displays on the market at the moment. The Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 fuels the phone, and so on. OPPO really did go all out here.

Acer unveils four new Predator and Nitro AMD GPUs with RDNA 3

0
[ad_1]

Acer is announcing four new GPUs today built on AMD’s RDNA 3 architecture with the Predator BiFrost Radeon RX 7800 XT OC, as well as the Nitro Radeon RX 7800 XT OC, 7700 XT OC, and 7600 XT OC. All four GPUs will go on sale in February of this year but Acer is only listing prices for three of them right now. The Predator BiFrost Radeon RX 7800 XT will retail for $549.99 and is Acer’s flagship out of the four GPUs.

As such, gamers can expect some real performance gains with this card. It’s PCIe 4.0 and uses dual PCIe 8-pin connectors. it also has 16GB of GDDR6 memory and a triple fan setup with three Predator FrostBlade 3.0 fans. Additionally, it has a max Game Clock of 2,254 MHz and a max boost clock of 2,565 MHz. It also has ports for HDMI 2.1 and DisplayPort 2.1. In short, it’s really fast and it stays cool under pressure. “Gamers can expect major leaps in performance and efficiency,” Acer says.

If you’re the type that likes to keep a watchful eye on stats, you can use the Predator BiFrost Utility app to monitor graphics parameters and even adjust the fan velocities.

Acer will sell three more affordable Predator GPUs based on the AMD RDNA 3 architecture

Acer’s other more affordable GPUs will offer similarly impressive performance. The Nitro 7800 XT and 7700 XT models for instance will have AI accelerators that allow for 1440p and 4K gaming. Max boost clock speeds will be 2,565 MHz and 2,599 MHz respectively, while the max game clock speeds will be 2,254 MHz and 2,276 MHz. The prices should also be a little more appealing. The Nitro Radeon RX 7800 XT will be $509.99 and the Nitro Radeon RX 7700 XT will be $459.99.

Acer doesn’t list the price for the baseline model, the Nitro Radeon RX 7600 XT. However, it’ll be less than $459.99, so our bet is around $380-$400. Whatever the cost ends up being, however, it’ll be the GPU to pick if you have a rig with less space. Acer says it measures 265.1 x 111.2 x 40.1 mm with a 2.5-slot form factor and calls it the “choice for space-conscious DIY gamers.”

All three Nitro cards will also have connectivity ports for HDMI 2.1 and DisplayPort 2.1 just like the Predator BiFrost Radeon RX 7800 XT. So you can easily use them with those newer cables if you already have them.

AsyncRAT Malware Attacking the US Infrastructure

0
[ad_1]

AsyncRAT is an open-source remote access Trojan (RAT) malware known for its ability to provide unauthorized access and control over infected systems. It was released in 2019.

Hackers use it actively for various malicious purposes, including:-

  • Data theft
  • System manipulation
  • Surveillance
  • Cyber espionage
  • Keylogging
  • Exfiltration techniques
  • Initial access staging for final payload delivery

Cybersecurity researchers at AT&T recently discovered that AsyncRAT malware has been actively attacking the US infrastructure for 11 months.

AsyncRAT Malware

APT Earth Berberoka has used this RAT, and recently, AT&T Alien Labs noted a phishing spike in September targeting individuals with gif attachments leading to:-

  • SVG file
  • Obfuscated JavaScript
  • PowerShell scripts
  • AsyncRAT execution
Number of samples observed (Source - AT&T)
Number of samples observed (Source – AT&T)

The loader’s stages are obfuscated by the C&C server that checks the victim for sandbox before deploying the AsyncRAT payload. C&C redirects to a harmless page when parameters are not met.

JavaScript files delivered via phishing with obfuscated strings like:-

  • Melville
  • church
  • chapter
  • Scottish

Meanwhile, the loader versions vary for each victim with randomized variable names, constants, and URL representation. After the GET request, C&C sends base64 script XOR’ed against a hardcoded key, unpacked with Gunzip, and executed flawlessly in PowerShell.

Execution flow (Source - AT&T)
Execution flow (Source – AT&T)

The C&C values like 1b (VM False) are correct, while 2c (VMWare) and other wrong answers have higher values. C&C may have a table of valid responses or a value range that helps in avoiding brute force.

Anti-sandboxing technique evades popular sandboxes. Invalid answer redirects to Google or returns a new script reaching out to payload in temp[.]sh with $url variable.

However, besides this, the temp[.]sh link is consistent across samples and time, which helps in hosting the files for three days with new randomized URL paths.

The code dynamically changes and is heavily obfuscated for detection evasion, but network infrastructure remains consistent.

The samples use a variety of domains that are frequently updated, and among them, the common domains include:-

  • sduyvzep[.]top
  • orivzije[.]top
  • zpeifujz[.]top

Here below, we have mentioned all the characteristics that are followed by the domain structure:-

  • Top Level Domain (TLD): top
  • 8 random alphanumeric characters
  • Registrant organization: ‘Nicenic.net, Inc’ (the registrar)
  • Country code South Africa (ZA)
  • Created a few days before its use

The Domain Generation Algorithm (DGA) calculates a unique domain every seven days and on every Sunday, it generates a new one.

The seed, which is derived from the day of the year, undergoes modifications for variation that includes changes to other variables and characters in the scripts.

This strategy helps threat actors avoid detection and blocking by automatically changing the C&C domain over time.

Samsung’s Galaxy AI billboards spark Galaxy S24 excitement

0
[ad_1]

With just over a week left before the official unveiling, Samsung has stepped up its Galaxy S24 promotions. It has launched a global billboard campaign promoting the new flagships and their on-device AI capabilities. The giant billboards are up in strategic locations across several major cities worldwide. The company will unveil the devices on January 17.

Samsung ramps up Galaxy S24 promotions with Galaxy AI billboards

Samsung started putting up digital billboards promoting the upcoming Galaxy Unpacked event on January 3. The company says the billboards are now live at COEX in Seoul, South Korea; Piazza del Duomo in Milan, Italy; CentralWorld in Bangkok, Thailand; Piccadilly Circus in London, the UK; Stureplan in Stockholm, Sweden; and Central Railway Station in Warsaw, Poland.

Samsung Galaxy S24 promotion billboard Galaxy AI 1

The giant displays are also up in Chengdu, Madrid, New York, and many other major cities around the world. They show Samsung’s teaser for Galaxy AI, a comprehensive mobile AI solution that will debut with the Galaxy S24 series. “The video shows a metallic cube slowly evolving into animated stars that represent Galaxy AI and the transformative experiences it will bring,” the company explains.

You may have already seen this video on the Korean firm’s social channels. It has bet big in artificial intelligence for its next-gen flagships. Powered by its in-house generative AI model Samsung Gauss, Galaxy AI is built into the system for an intuitive and seamless AI experience for users. Leaks suggest users can switch to third-party AI solutions such as ChatGPT for some tasks.

Samsung says it is bringing a “mobile innovation that will soon change the way users live, connect and create forever.” The Galaxy S24 series will have AI built into the camera, gallery, Samsung Call, Samsung Notes, Samsung Internet, Samsung Keyboard, and various other system apps and elements. Some AI features will work offline on the device while others will require an internet connection.

These AI features are part of One UI 6.1

Samsung will offer these AI features as part of One UI 6.1, its Android 14-based custom software that will debut with the Galaxy S24 lineup. If history is any indication, the company will push the new One UI version to older Galaxy flagships and premium mid-range models later. It remains to be seen if all of the new AI features will make it into older models. Hardware constraints may make some features incompatible. Stay tuned for the official Galaxy S24 launch next week.
